  1. You can't really play that game in high school football. New stars come and go every year and that's all. What if beechwood said "Oh a shame we don't have this o-line, Max Nussbaum over here, so-and-so at WR for this year." High school can only be taken in the perspective of each year as it's played.
  2. I think Mayfield being gone is just that. They are gone and now other teams in the area of the playoff bracket are getting more attention and a bigger chance, but although this is russelville's best team ever to some, that is not saying much, at least for relatively recent history.
  3. Because it is hard to tell how good a team is even if who they are playing against is a weaker opponent. Look at what Mayfield did in 1A. They are in the middle of nowhere and played a rather weak schedule every year (struggled but won almost all games every year) and yet come the time to play big time games in playoffs, they completely dominated.
  4. I think if a team plays a bad team but continues to prove they are getting better and winning how they should (63-0 I believe was the score) then they should not be questioned. Now an example of a team in a similar situation doing the opposite that hasn't moved is Ohio State. They are playing teams in a similar situation to Male vs. Seneca and yet are winning by a touchdown and they have not moved a bit in the rankings.
  5. I'm pretty sure stringer held onto the ball during his "LeBron" high step, so definitely 3. Not sure about 1. I have seen it happen a descent amount either before the end zone or while running around in the end zone and no flags. If 2 and 4 or anywhere near the player, then no question it is a penalty. 2 and 4 in high school (since they are so strict about it) border on a penalty anyway even if you run away from everything to do it, but overtop or next to the player is an instant penalty (or at least should be since we all know cov cath didn't get called for it on Friday.)
  6. Their d-tackles are also the main providers of success on the o-line, as well as at least one linebacker (slusher) who practically never gets off the field, from reps as wr, to linebacker, to punter.
  7. Now that they both have happened, that ball that bounced off the defender's chest for a cov cath TD reminded me a lot of the ridiculous ole miss TD on Saturday where a ball should've gone one way and ended up sealing the victory for the other. The football gods definitely had their hand in this game, but beechwood played quite well for playing beechwood football for about half the game.
  8. I totally agree. Especially now that its small school competition from here on out. Noel Rash always talks about wanting a tough QB that is more like a linebacker playing qb than a qb playing linebacker, but yet he doesn't give his athletes the chance to perform on both sides of the ball sometimes.
  9. More than anything I'd say the overmatch was definitely the line. but specifically the numbers of players on the line. Beechwood just simply doesn't have enough kids to keep up with teams like cov cath that can match the number of athletes and still be rotating in guys while platooning defense and offensive lines. Even by the second quarter you could tell those kids playing both d-line and o-line for bw were out of gas.
  10. And it is all password protected with accounts for each coach and player and extremely secure so that only the people they want to be able to see the film can see it.
  11. Yes from my impeccable skills in reading and common sense I was able to deduce that. But I am also aware that people might want to post more recent films of great current players or of their little Johnny's best game so far this year, so we should just clarify so as to make sure it doesn't happen.
  12. all I ask is that there be rules such as the film has to be I'd say 3 years old so that all of those classes that were on varsity are graduated, so that the film doesn't become a weapon in the wrong hands
  13. Yeah between the trucks with giant speakers up against the fence at the in zone manned by drunken revelry that pelt words and the occasional beer can at their opponents and the giant concrete slab of seats, it can be intimidating, but its all about how the opponent takes it. Maybe they thrive on hostility and get excited by the intensity (like most good teams).... or they shrivel up and cower. I'm thinking Desales is the type of team that will as they say "eat it up" and thrive.
  14. I know college and high school are different in some ways, but a great example would be that "Undefeated" Notre Dame team that got embarrassed in the championship against Alabama because of strength of schedule, and we see this happen a lot in the earlier parts of HS playoffs too. Teams with great records play against teams with a tough regular season and get beat because they are taken aback by the caliber of their opponent and don't know how to combat it.
  15. If Scott County wants to be the machine they need to be to beat Male, they need to keep getting better no matter the competition, which means they need to demolish these guys.
  16. If defenses control the game, Cov Cath has a shot, but if it comes to who can score the most, I think Beechwood just has more weapons and can outscore them. No matter what, a rivalry game is a rivalry game, its anybody's night, and the victory will go to who just flat out wants it more, which is what will make this game so exciting. A game filled with emotion and the pure love for the gridiron.
  17. Thanks! and I forgot about Scott County. With a different team on top, 6A should be fun to watch this year!
  18. Looks like 3A this year is going to be quite entertaining to watch. Although Central shows their hunger for a championship with this win, I think there are some real challengers to the throne that weren't there before when they have been able to march down and just grab the trophy year after year.
  19. So I guess the question is now who is going to rival Male? Can St. X stop these guys? or does any other team in the state have a shot? maybe Simon Kenton?
