Paintsville faces their toughest opponent since their big come from behind win against Pikeville. Paintsville less than impressive win over Williamsburg hurt them in their bid to move past Beechwood in the rankings. This week they get a chance to make a better impression. Bourbon County opened the year with an upset win over 5A ranked Southwestern but have been lackluster since. Last week's victory over winless George Rogers Clark at least got them their second win. Can Paintsville get the win over this big school opponent? Who wins the QB battle in this one?

I think BC will have enough depth to cause Paintsville problems. Im standing behind the fact that Pikeville, Paintsville, and Raceland are all on about the same level. Paintsville hasnt played anyone like Belfry or Ashland, this week is their toughest challenge before the district begins. I think Burbon wins this one.

I figured it may of happen because of there loss to Cov Cath. But I do think if Beechwood doesn't take care of business and get a sound win then it COULD be possible. But it is very unlikely..

What if a team below them added more to their resume after winning this week while the top ranked team didn't add much to their's?

I think Paintsville will equate themselves well actually.

 

Bourbon's big play ability will give Paintsville some problems as they simply don't have enough athletes in all 11 defensive spots.

 

With that said, Bourbon County isn't exactly the world's most physically imposing team or the Steel Curtain on Defense.

 

If Paintsville wins I think they make the case for #1 in 1A with wins over Bourbon and Pikeville on their resume.

CovCath may very well fall to 1-5 after beating Beechwood soundly. if Ironton and Lloyd both struggle I think it is very fair to consider dropping them.

I dont think though, that anything like that comes into considerstion until ater week 6 or 7.

Especially with teams like Highlands and Cov Cath having a history of regular seasons finishing 4-6 or 5-5 and making it to or winning a state championship.

Yes I do and I believe that Paintsville should be ranked #1 in 1A now and that they will get a W this week, Being a 1A school, people just don't realize how good of football the Tigers play. Highlighted by a U.K. Recruit at qb that can run, pass and is also one of the best LB's / defensive players anywhere. Paintsville also had plenty to go with him and imo Paintsville goes into Paris and gets this one.

Well I agree you shouldn't punish a team for winning. NOT just a high ranked team but any team. Hazard is 4-1 and found ways to win with all the injuries and season ending injuries to players and still can't get the bump up in rankings because of there loss to Fairview in week 1. But enough about that I think if Paintsville wins it could predict a jump.
