Open Job: Louisville Eastern

Sixth most boys of any Kentucky high school, behind Dunbar, Trinity, Henry Clay, St. Xavier, and Scott County. A little bit of old-time history (runners-up in 1960 and 1964) and some recent as well (region finalists in 2008 and 2011, state semifinalist in 2012). Right in the middle of the current district, not as good as Trinity or Ballard, but better than Seneca and J-town. Seems like a job with some potential.

What is the reason for the lack of success? Coach struggling to get players out? Not a lot of talent? I find it hard to believe one of the biggest schools in the state doesn't have the talent.

I have two guess as to way a school like Eastern is not better at football: 1) lack of admin. support 2) lack of assistant coaches.

Still not sure why we can't have a Open job thread...would like to discuss as a whole. Any way...with Eastern having a steady amount of talent at least in recent times...why do you think this job keeps coming open?

Years ago Eastern was looked at as a "basketball" school for kids, but I would have to argue with what LTR has said on support issues/ quality assistants. Not sure if Eastern has open enrollment or has direct feeders, that could be a concern as well.

Coach Davis will be able to retire at the end or beginning of next school year (maybe end of September 2017).

Eastern has a lot of potential: big school, pretty consistent enrollment of good athletes, supporting fan base. But for some reason, kids are not motivated to join the team. There is a looming attitude that eastern is not and never will be good at football. I feel like this is a common issue with struggling programs. how do you get kids to come out and play?

Easterns band is pretty good, they normally have around 90 out for it each year.
