Madison Central played very poorly tonight. Their offense never got in sync and they had no answer for Jaylen Jones on the defensive side of the ball.

Without Brumbaugh, the defense and special teams are really going to have to step up for the Knights to have a chance. I think the Indians have too much on offense for the Knights this week. Madison Central by 14+.

Kirk Fagot, the backup QB will take the helm for the Knights in Brumbaugh's absence. With the QB change, the Knights will shift their focus more to the run game with Jaylen Jones and fellow Seniors Andy Thompson and Brett Balcirak while using more WR screens in the backfield. IMO, no. Legend Brumbaugh is a difficult guy to replace on offense. He can beat you with his arm and his legs. He is a dynamic weapon. With Lexington Catholic focusing more on the run without Brumbaugh, they'll have to rely more on their defense to get stops to stay competitive. That's a big problem, if you ask me. With the teams they've got coming up on their schedule, I don't see how they'll remain a competitive team at the top of 3A. Their best hope is that Brumbaugh returns before the season or for the playoffs if they can make it.

Looks to me like Central is the new # 3 in Class 3A. Impressive win.

Congrats to Ryle. Makes me feel a little better about the result of the LC-Ryle game. Sounds like Engler has the Raiders going in the right direction.

Male is legit. I'm not going to read too much into this, although it is surprising given Trinity's national ranking. The Shamrocks are always ready come playoff time. I sense a rematch in November is looming for these two.

I think Scott County will grow a lot after a game like this. The first appearance in Cincinnati for a KY school against a school like Elder is always going to be a struggle.

Wow! Sounds like I was at the wrong game in Lexington tonight. Sounds like a heck of a game.

I've never been more disappointed after a victory than tonight. Without Brumbaugh, Lexington Catholic is a very average football team. With the games they have coming up, they won't stand a chance. Defense was on the field a lot tonight and held up better than I expected. I guess that's the bright spot, but it's not much consolation tonight.

I just checked the radar and the forecast. I'm not sure if they'll get this game in. If they do, I expect some lengthy weather delays. Big game for both schools. Both need a win after rough starts. This could go either way. Hopefully Lex Cath puts 4 quarters together for the first time all season and gets back in the win column. A lot of tough games coming up. They need some momentum and some confidence going forward. Too many mistakes have doomed them. Have to clean that up on offense and shore up the defense. Headed to the game now. Go Knights!

You know, it's really tiring to hear the word "soft" thrown around so much when talking about Lexington Catholic's defense. We've never been a defensively sound team. As I believe Northerner said earlier, the Knights bend, but don't break. I'm sorry that Lexington Catholic doesn't have access to monstrous mountain players to load their defense up with, but I think they do just fine all things considered. Not every team is going to be the '85 Bears defensively. Sorry for ranting, but that just struck a nerve with me. With that being said, I believe whoever gets the ball last wins this one. Hopefully that's the Knights. Should be a good one.

I saw the highlights on the news last Friday night. I saw the numbers on the helmet, but I didn't see the other side. I didn't know they had brought the Knight riding the horse back. I'm looking forward to seeing that tonight. I bet it looks great.

It's not my style, to be honest. I wish they'd pick a design and stick with it. The actual Knight on the helmet was great and the interlocking LC was good, too. I guess I'm a traditionalist.

I can't find a picture anywhere, but the uniforms that Lexington Catholic wore in the late 90s and early 2000s with the white helmet and the Knight riding a horse were awesome. I grew up going to the games and couldn't wait to put that helmet on when I got older. It was a great design that they changed before I got there unfortunately.

The Knights have 33 freshmen on the roster, but I'm not sure how many of them were at the Highlands game.

A few guys I played with were pretty outspoken, but even they didn't take it to that level. Wow.
