Heard from a former coach of a lot of these boys that they looked very good. From balls being kicked into the end zone every time, outstanding QB play, to finishing tackles with a purpose. That's great news for the "program"!

Now before anyone decides to say something crazy like maybe they can move to Varsity, hahaha, seen that said a ton lately, let's remember that these boys played a great "freshman" game. Just like JV kids played a good JV game.

Either way, great to read about a Baby Birds win after a tough loss to the big boys of T. Keep up the good work Freedies.

Just sayin!

The offense ran efficiently behind some hardnosed running by Cooper Schwalbach. He punishes defenders when finishing runs. QB Grady Cramer was poised in the pocket and made some very nice passes. WR Nate Roberts caught some nice passes and Huddelston, the 8th grade phenom was all over the field. He went up and snatched a long pass late in the game for a long score. I saw him finish off some very nice tackles with some good licks.

The Birds played with some passion. With that said, Lex Cath had a few nice athletes but overall their talent didn't compare. The QB was solid, stepped up in the pocket well. #2 the RB was talented but he was swarmed all night by the Birds.

It was a very well played game overall, outside of some stupid facemask penalties I would say they played mistake free football.

Most interested position change of the night goes to starting guard Bryce Ziegler. He is the team's backup QB and relieved Cramer late in the game. Not too many guards can play a skilled position like QB.

Next week they get back to playing the NKY schedule with a game vs Cooper.

Best of luck Baby Birds. Nice Job tonight !!!

Happy for Nate Roberts the Brossart connection!

While we would have loved to have had him, he was dead set on playing for Highlands after his yeas in the FTJFL. Sometimes you have to follow your dreams! Glad to see that he's making a contribution.

Nate "Natron" Roberts. What a great kid! I had the pleasure to coach Nate both his years in FTJFL. Agree with you that he was headed to Brossart until he made a whole new set of friends in Ft Thomas. I also think I did a pretty good job of serving the Blue Stuff.

FWIW, he was going where Casey Greene was going. And Casey was going to play at Highlands where both his older brothers and Dad all go and went to School. A win-win for our program!

So very excited for Nate!

That's great news about the Frosh QB. After this year do you all think it's possible to actually have a 3 yr starter at QB for the Birds?

Although Grady is a very good signal caller I highly doubt he will be a 3 yr starter at QB. Gosney and Schoellman are both nice QB's who will compete for the job next season. Grady has a bright future and could very well position himself to be a starter by his JR yr though. JMO

Before halftime, I thought to myself...

Wonder how long before we start hearing these boys should be given a chance on Friday night!
