I believe that Chuck Smith could make massive improvements to either of the programs mentioned. To win the whole thing? Definitely tough ... but ... I could give you more reasons why I think he could ... as opposed to reasons why he couldn't.

First question: Trinity is in a category with approximately 10 to 12 other teams ... that I consider to be a top program (Highlands, Mayfield, Beechwood, Cov Cath, St. Xavier, etc). Hard for me to narrow it down to one). Second question: I very much believe that they probably work harder than 99.99999% of the teams in KY. But that is one small factor (of 100's) as to why they win. (Same goes for the rest of the list I stated above) Not to mention .. who was the coach at Trinity before Bob Beatty? (I have no clue either ... because he came in .. and didn't meet the expectations of the job and whoever it was .. certainly did not walk in .. and drive a porsche to the state championship every year).

Ha, ha ... ... you are bad! (I can't argue with that right now even if I wanted to).

Fair enough ... but ... to answer your question: Some coaches would definitely create the same of type great success. Some wouldn't. Example: Mayfield (not a coach from a different part of the state .. but the example still holds true .. especially when you consider that 5-6 years ago .. people were ready to push Coach Joe right on out of Mayfield. With that said .. use your question in reverse .. there are many from the western part of the state who could come to NKY .. and be as successful ... or more successful. There are also some that were great in WKY .. but wouldn't cut it up here. To some it up ... I respect your opinion .. and I would buy some of it. But at the end of the day ... I feel like great coaches have a better chance at being successful everywhere .. but it still takes good chemistry for the team and staff. And most importantly ... it has very little to do with geography. (Boyle County/Chuck Smith is a great example.

Also ... you say that you "would love a key to a porsche" ... Well ... think more of it like a 1969 Corvette ... *It looks really great *Everyone likes to look at it At the same for that Corvette: *Parts are extremely hard to come by *It costs a ton of money/effort/time to keep it running like it used to

No offense hoss ... but it is significantly harder to keep a successful program at the highest level for an extended period of time ... as opposed to having minimal expectations and over delivering. I love the attitude that historically successful programs have it so much easier than other teams. It really is kind of clueless .... We have lost in the semi-finals the past 4 seasons ... (most teams would pay for that type of success) ... and people can't wrap their mind around that ... Do we work harder than everyone else? I would say that we work significantly harder than the overwhelming majority. We certainly don't twiddle our thumbs everyday. To end .. regardless of what you think ... the grass is NEVER greener on the other side.

First off ... there are not 25 coaches (probably close to that for the entire program--middle school, freshman, reserve/varsity--there are 8) and all of the coaches support the varsity program on Friday night. *After School practice: Yes (However--during the off season--weights do not start until 4:30 pm--1. So more coaches will be there. 2. So the team can participate in Track or other sports right after school (I don't know of many who are doing that) *Fundraising: Yes (The boosters naturally pitch in as well) *No Clue what the budget is ... I do know that many of our coaches work for free (meaning--they are not even paraprofessionals--they are volunteers). I also know that the money that we do have usually goes towards the best possible equipment for the team. Our players pay for their uniforms (every year) and just about every other thing that they need. So .. is it horrible? Depends on your perspective (we have great facilities now--but until 2 years ago ... our weight room made Highlands situation look like a billion dollar facility. At the same time ... the situation that you speak about ... is not that much different. We are a little further down the road--and are fortunate that we are in a great community (which at the same time brings a different set of issues for our program that you would be happy never to have to deal with). The point of my comments: at the end of the day--everyone can find fault or issues with the program that they support. To our head coach--it was important to have the best possible coaches ... even if they were not in school with him. If that means that our practice times change ... he lives with it. If we have to start weights at 4:30 pm ... then he lives with it. To him ... the trade off are worth it.

And ... only ONE (being the head coach) is in the building ... ... ... ... ...

I can tell you this ... you can get an upper arena championship game ticket CHEAPER than you can get a ticket to the Track/Cross Country State Championships (if you buy at the gate .. as opposed to earlier). I am thinking it is $10.00 ... and they clear it out after each class in track (as much as they can anyway).

Definitely a good one ... but I think that these are better (lots of close games/OT's/underdogs/etc): 1986 (Pulaski County/Reggie Hansen/Shannon Fraley with winning runner with 9 seconds to go over heavily favored PRP) 1987 (Clay County/Richie Farmer .. I will never forget the picture in the Kentucky post .. Richie Farmer with a 40 year old mustache and Allan Huston in the background with a look of disappointed anger on his face) 1985 (Hopkinsville Over Clay County ... 9th Grade Richie Farmer with full beard) 1988 (PRP over Wayne County ... Wayne County .. the ultimate underdawg all week .. with the best name in Sweet 16 history .. Jimmy John Owens ... almost pulled it out). I guess I was a Farmer fan ... too bad he turned out to be such a tool. But ... this is the first time in a LONG time where I actually watched every game ... so I have a feeling that it will end up on my "all time" list if you ask me the same question in 5 years.

Curious ... why in the world would anyone from Highlands try to bait Colerain? You haven't beaten them ... and they certainly have NOT avoided Highlands (more like the other way around) Interested in some real insight here.

I guess they were doing the same thing a few years back when the 'Birds were on the schedule? Colerain loses a nearly as much as Trinity ... so it sounds like they both have the same thought process. Should be a fun game ... ...

Here are a few more .... It is hard to get everything in one shot. I will take a few more over the weekend We are extremely fortunate to have what we have.

Here is a very small picture of the downstairs weight room at Beechwood .... (There is also a fitness room upstairs--more machine/cardio oriented). I love the new building. But ... there are many times where I miss the dungeon.

Nearly impossible to pull off. I think the way to get better championship games (without recreating the wheel) is to find a way to reseed the 4th round. This is where something like a combination of the Massey, Litkenhaus and the numbers in the Herald Leader (sorry--the name escapes me) could be used to determine seeds. Get rid of alternating 4th round games--and play at a neutral site (which would probably save money over the long term for man teams). 1 plays 4, 2 plays 3 ... winners move on to the championship. Now .. many people are not interested in computer rankings ... but it could actually help improve the quality of play. For instance (since all the computer models take "strength of schedule" into account) smaller schools would have to make an attempt to play better teams. Larger schools are not going to step down as often to play smaller schools (and if they do--it is not a huge deal--because they end up with a tougher game in the semi-finals--as opposed to somewhere like Ohio ... where you don't even make it in). In reality .. this is a very small tweak ... and if explored and set up properly ... the quality of football should increase over the entire season ... and would also improve the quality of the championship games.

I am pretty sure Max DOES run track .... and has been All State in multiple events ... in the past two years. Not to mention a regional champion in the 100, 4 x 100, 4 x 200, etc .... Pretty sure he is one of the better track and field athletes in NKY. As far as the rest ... fire away. That is your right .... have fun.

You are wrong .... Without thinking about it too much .. Conner beat the CCH in 1996 in the playoffs. I also think there may have been another regular season win after that in either 97 or 98. Conner also beat CC in 1999 .... 10 to 0 in the regular season.

After what I have seen with my own eyes for the past however many weeks ..... Danville will have their hands full. The Panthers, yet again, are more than the real deal. End of Story.

Not true .... (but it definitely was not intentional). In 2003 ... Beechwood sat 13 players (9 starters) during the regular season game (the reason is not important at this point). Beechwood lost in the regular season ... won in the playoffs.

This is a joke right? None of those three will be with 28 (and most likely more points). And yes ... I have seen all 3 of the above teams .. and have no idea what you have seen that makes you think that they could hang with NCC. I am willing to listen ... but you are going to need some hardcore facts to back up that statement.

So ... I need to drop it ... when it definitely did not happen .... ? Trust me ... every time someone brings it up on here or anywhere else ... it will be refuted. It was not a coach, coaches buddy, representative of the school, etc. You do your self or the offending parties no favor by continuing to further this myth that has been proven wrong at all appropriate levels. Take your own advice ... and "drop it already" The is the only way that this one is ever going away.

Which NEVER happened. And if it did .. which coach was it? What kind of car was it? (Oh yeah ... that's right ... not only were all the coaches from the opposition at practice at that time .. but none of them have the type of "spymobile" that the accuser mentioned). It is pathetic that this blatant lie was allowed to spread. End of story.
