I suggest that in the future you identify your threads a little better to avoid confusion.

I think whenever all-state teams of any sort (all-district, all-star, etc.) come out we should have one thread devoted to congrats to the kids named to the team. Then have a different thread to cry and complain about the kids that didn't make it. It does an injustice to the kids on the team to harp on who didn't make it. It is as senseless as rating a team that has been defeated in the playoffs ahead of a team that defeated them. Its as bad as getting defeated and claiming to be the better team. Congrats to all the kids that made all-state, you should be proud.

I remember when I first signed on at BGP. J-O-K-E was subject to the word filter. I finally see why. It can be a pretty nasty word if used with a certain flair.

What rumors? Didn't he have some silly remarks after his loss to CovCath? Did that turn out to be untrue? BTW, congrats to Coach Matney on a job well done.

I am surprised as well. Every mention of Vic's name in the media all season was prefaced with "Mr. Football frontrunner" or "Mr. Football canidate". He and Doug shared the cover of the CJ high school football preview focusing the Mr. Football race on the two. Now to see that he didn't get a single vote, surprising. I was glad to see that Nick Petrino got some votes. He had another great season and I'm happy to see he was recognized.

Congrats to Doud and the rest of the Male team and staff. No one ever wins an award like this alone. Best luck in the future.

The last scheduled regular season match-up was in 2001. Male backed out. Trinity was unable to fill the void and had only nine regular season games. Trinity went 13-1 defeating Male in the final to win state title #13.

For obvious reasons a track was not an option at Trinity. I understand the benefit. Once again. I'm sure that X's facility will be state of the art. Congrats.

Actually LN, it wouldn't have to be quite that complex. Just have Boone County adopt the same rules that exist in Florida (and other states I would guess) that allow students of schools without a certain athletic team the right to play for a school that does. So just pick the school with the best staff and facilities and discontinue football at the other schools. Tim Tebow was home schooled but was allowed to play for Nease High School under this rule. I've read a few stories recently about others in other states. I've often thought a solution like this would work in Jefferson County at schools that have a hard time fielding a team.

My alma mater (LSU) plays in a trackless facility and I consider it one of the finest football venues in the world. JMO. It seems odd that more colleges don't build their stadiums with tracks to take advantage of those "good or better" sight lines. To each his own.

I agree. I understand the economics of adding a track but it really detracts from the football stadium. I'm sure that X's facility will be state of the art, as I'm sure money is no object over on Poplar Level road.

Two transfers of note. Zach Slayton, transfer from St.X, sat out his junior year after playing OL as freshman and JV for the Tigers. Donovan Simms, returned to Trinity after attending another school his sophomore year.He played fresman ball at Trinity. Both will be eligible to play next season. Both will be seniors. I am also hearing that Andy Lynch may be playing football in the fall. Andy was a standout freshman lineman and has played basketball the past couple of seasons.

Its pretty official, but not official, official. I think there some deal about if MBA can return to Marshall in 08' based on some schedule issue. There is another game waiting in the wings if that doesn't work out. :eek:

I would say that Chuck Smith did about as fine a coaching job as has ever been done. I also think that is true of a number of others including my personal favorite, Bob Beatty.

I think people underestimate the motivation being snubbed in these polls and rankings have provided the Rocks over the past few seasons. The Lit ratings never seemed to give Trinity their due all season, the boys saw it and proved them wrong. Looks like the Rocks just received a little boost for the off-season heading into the quest for #18. Keep doubting.:thumb:

I'd say that the future of Coach Beatty became quite clear this afternoon. I really don't see much need for this thread any longer. I would hope tha it gets closed. End of story.

Great time was had by all. The Rocks are running out of room for those trophies. Coach Beatty delivered a great speech honoring members of the team and staff. He also made it very clear that he was staying at Trinity. Lets get to work on #18.:thumb:
