  1. Trinity won state in 03, give me a name? 05, likewise a name? How about 06? I think you will find that Trinity would (and is) dominant with or without the occasional kid that decides to go to Trinity after not attending a Catholic grade school. The fact is that it isn't the big factor that your trying to make it. FYI, I get your point. I just think you are incorrect. For the record, Tay had 300 yards to Daniel's 200 in that game. They both scored 3 TDs. But Daniel had the longest TD (85 yards).
  2. First, there was only one McBroom. He really wasn't any bigger part of the Trinity offense than Mudd or Riddle, etc. Check the stats and you will see I'm correct (in fact I think Mudd out-gained McBroom in the classic 59-56 game). The second point about McBroom that you probably don't know is that his parents liked the idea of Trinity to give their son a little more structure than was available elsewhere. One of Coach Cov's greatest coaching jobs while at Trinity was the one he did academically with Tay. IMO, his education would have ended at high school without his experience at Trinity. The sophmore linebacker is a similar case of a family that was disappointed in certain aspects of the JCPS system. They decided to make a change and the kid is doing great. I notice you didn't mention the Trinity linebacker that transferred to Manual at the same time. He was allowed to play right away and became a starter I believe. FYI, the kid that transferred into Trinity didn't start until an injury to the starter in a playoff game. Then again how about Trinity's starting linebacker from 05' that transferred to a public school across the river (he moved to Indiana after leaving Trinity) and became the team's leading tackler?
  3. Now that is a pretty good hike. The pre-game trek might not be so bad, but the post-game walk may be a little tough.
  4. I think coach Petrino ends a nasty QB issue by getting rid of Schaub. I think he moved up to #8 in hopes of getting Brady Quinn at that spot. The two #2s are huge in the plan to build a winner in Atlanta. I think Bobby made a great move, I hope it works out for him.:thumb:
  5. Well the most heated debate in NKY football was about a kid going from private to public. I read a number of threads each season on here about private to public switching in NKY football. I'll have to take your word for it concerning girls basketball (it doesn't seem to be doing any good though). FYI, I don't think anyone is lumping Kentucky's private schools in with Oak Hill. Oak Hill is a school in name only, its more like a great AAU team with tutors.
  6. What planet did you live on prior to joining BGP?
  7. Let me tell you that although hard to believe it is true. Trinity over the years has worked a whole lot less at any sport other than football. Now the emphasis is being made for basketball but it still is second fiddle to football. I go to basketball games for something to do until football starts and I'm not the only one that feels that way. I'll put it this way, you won't see any football coach at Trinity sticking around for very many years without a state title.
  8. I think we agree on classes for all sports. However, a number of small schools play big-time in the world of sports. Look at the enrollments of Duke, then look at their record against the big schools. Ditto for Notre Dame in football. I don't like your urban/rural split but I could support multiple classes in basketball.:thumb:
  9. No one on that side of the argument is looking for competiton, they are looking to ease the path to a trophy. JMO, of course.
  10. Thats odd. Morgantown is 204 miles from Huntington according to Mapquest while the "commute" to Lexington is a mere 128 miles.
  11. :fire: If you have a plan that would result in a trip to the sweet sixteen "every 3-4 years" you would have my support. Give AD Dennis Lampley a call.
  12. This is the topic of many conversations around my house.
  13. Yeah, they could play the "rural championship" in front of a few hundred of their closet friends. When the players get to college (in heaven forbid a....city) their new friends from metro areas can kid them about their quasi-state championship. Maybe you rural activists haven't noticed but most of the population of the entire state resides connected to the metro areas. If you are allowed to have your own championship, what have you really won? It would likely be a "state title" won between schools involving 20 or 30 percent of the state's population. I wonder which title would be recognized as the "real" champion? I also wonder if the rural schools will want to cherry-pick competeing in years that they could compete with the "big city" schools? Everthing isn't equal, everything isn't fair. Yet some find a way to win. Note Danville in football, or Woodford County in wrestling, etc. Where will the "field-leveling" end?
  14. Why can't you name the school? If they were found guilty by the KHSAA, wouldn't that be a matter of public record. No one minded naming names during the Mike Mitchell matter. Why is this different?
  15. I don't want to call you a liar, so I will ask you to put up or shut up as the rules of this site require. If you know of any "Bobby Chitwoods" getting a free ride, report it. I don't think they exist. I find your "know it all attitude" far more "sarcastic" and "arrogant" than my comments but this is an opinion board. What about the other analogies? It seems to me those inequities would bother you far more than who wins the girls state basketball trophy.
  16. Gosh, opportunities in rural areas are not the same as in urban areas? Who would have guessed. I'd bet that the hospitals aren't equal as well. I guess we should force doctors to move to the country. I bet the per capita income is greater in the city as well, I guess you want to limit that as well. Then again, My risk of being shot is probably much greater than yours. I guess we should bus y'all some criminals. Then again if you are so concerned that your kids won't get to hoist a trophy, you could always move. FYI, the movie "Hoosiers" wouldn't have been nearly as great if they only had to beat some other little country school at some tiny backwoods gym.
  17. You may want to lump teachers in with the "politicians". The percentage of teachers in the JCPS system that send their kids to private schools is greater than that of the general population. I guess the folks that would know best know something more than the majority of the rest of us.
  18. Lets limit our discussion on this sports board to sports. Name the nine counties and other state that Trinity has athletes from?
  19. First, in your other post you said you weren't "discrediting Pitino" yet he is the only coach that you offer a qualifier concerning his results. The only qualifier I would offer about Rick is that he was able to bring UK back from a scandal not of his making. I would also qualify Tubby's title by saying that he probably stepped into one of the greatest situations in NCAA history. Concerning Rupps titles 47-51, he benefited from playing in conference that he probably could have won if he rested his starters until the tournament. Most of the SEC teams in those days were pretty pitiful. I guess my point is, if you believe that today's times are more of the same, then the old days weren't as impressive as we once thought.
  20. Gee LN, that sounds like an awful lot of work. Wouldn't be easier to just kick them out.
  21. So in a nutshell, your point is that fans shouldn't be so critical of the current Cats because the Cats weren't all that great to begin with. I guess they had me fooled all those years. I aways thought UK was the cream of the crop.
  22. What school broke the rules? The KHSAA let them get away with it? Why would it matter if it were varsity or JV? What school does the kid attend now? This sounds like one of those characters that writers make up to write a juicy story. Give us some facts. Thanks.
  23. You do realize that to do this they must be one of the top two teams in the SEC. Most years that would mean winning the east. Are you predicting that? If so, put down that drink.
