I agree that Coach Dawn must have gave the "speech" at half.They came out with an energized press that made Boone work, but the difference was the 3 ball. NCC caught fire outside the arc and Boone just can't seem to defend the 3. Would man/man defense help when they come across great 3pt shooting teams? The zone seems to give away too many open shots. On offense, Boone gets a lot of so called easy shots under the basket, but can't seem to finish. I'm sure the Rebels will keep working and that young girl will have something to cheer about. Boone has started with a very tough schedule for such a young team. After Friday, In their first 6 games, They will have played Holy Cross, Cooper, NCC, Conner, Newport. Besides Grant Co. , Nothing lower than 7th in Walter's 9 region review for this week.

Boone has done a great job on making Weyer work to get his . Boone has missed about 8 non contested shots under the basket.

I have watched both play this season, I would say Grant. I know Campbell was getting some love before the season, just don't see it yet.

I would agree that Beechwood would be the favorite, but something keeps them from taking the team on paper to the field. Ryle and Boone will be strong. Raisor and Doty will have a good year, but the verdict is still out on how good w/o the big run cushions they had last year. Can they win those low scoring games. The 9th is filled with a lot of quality players in the class of 2016 and expect them to show out this season. Good luck to all the players. Stay healthy and have fun!!!!

I would think Lloyd would be 10th in front of St. Henry. Heck, Boone County's schedule has been tougher than St. Henry with less experienced players and about the same outcome as St. Henry. . Plus, They have New Cath tonight and Cooper on Friday. Boone's first 6 games are 5 teams in the top 7 and the 6th would be Grant County which I feel is tougher team than St. Henry's Campbell game. I guess if St Henry is 10th, that must be a positive for Boone.

Haven't seen Lloyd play this season yet , but their success probably has something to due with PG Blake Donovan . He is the best assist man in NKY. He makes some unbelievable passes. His no look passes is second to none.

Good thing they get a lot of shots up because defense doesn't look to sound with all of the points they give up. What kind of shooting percentage has Scott had this season? If they have a shooting off night, they could be in trouble.

I agree Cooper does look like a Top 20 caliber. Who would be the other?

Don't know how I forgot to put Slusher on my Beechwood list, but I did. I would also add Seay from Scott. I know there is a couple from Ryle and Borman from Conner. I really think NKY will see a lot of players going to all divisions of baseball from the class of 2016 and prove to be the strongest we have seen in this area and go on to do big things. What other kids could be added to the watch list?

I would say 92" was better than 2014. Time will tell what kids get added to the 2016 list . My guess would be the list will be bigger than the 2014 list. Some kids off the top of my head that could play college if they desire; Beechwood- Fieger, Rowe. Boone- Dahms, Hibbard, Elmore. Conner- Padgett ,Owens.Cooper- Turner, Sisson. Some of these kids have offers to Div 3 schools or NAIA .

Congrats to Ricky !!! Agree about the class of 2016. Strongest NKY has seen in years. Should be exciting season with a lot of top notch players

Boone's RHP Jeffrey Purnell has committed to Morehead State University. Congrats to one of the hardest working and determined kids I have seen. Expect to see big things from him in his senior year!

Boone over Dixie by 3 !!!! 10-7. Boone has had their butts handed to them every week and they have stayed positive and keep working hard as a team. This point last year, players were quitting, parents crying and one big negative mess. A very positive attitude from a team that has nothing gone their way. Congrats to the staff and players. Keep grinding Rebels, It Is Coming. Go Rebels !!!!!! It might not show on the scoreboard, but you are WINNERS !!!!!

Finally, We are talking some baseball. I would have to agree w/ FauxTiger. On paper. Beechwood would be the choice for top team in the area with players such as Combs, Stringer, Slusher, Rowe,Bankemper, Fieger,ETC.... I would also agree that Highlands lost their fire-power, they will be good, but nothing like last season. They will have a couple of great pitchers with Raisor and Doty, but I don't know if I would say the best pitcher in the region. I feel the top three pitchers in the region will be the three kids who played together this summer which is Raisor ( Highlands), Purnell (Boone) and Ziegelmeyer (Ryle). I have seen on social media that all 3 have received D1 offers with Zigelmeyer committing to Morehead.I would also go out on a limb and say the Purnell, Ziegelmeyer , and several of the Beechwood kids all will be in the talk for player of the year next season. With Raisor being a PO, I feel that will keep him out of the talk. Maybe not out of the talk, Highlands posters do their share of promoting their kids, maybe more than their share (LOL) but that is a good thing. I wish more would promote their teams. It is amazing how much more attention a player gets when his name gets thrown around.Cooper came on strong late last year and will get some good pitching out of Friend and Turner. The 33rd will be the toughest district again in this area. Doesn't Scott HS return a pretty good team? All the top teams have great pitching and defense. The difference will be the offense. Last season, Highlands stayed hot on offense. The rest of the teams in this thread were up and down. Should be an exciting season with a very strong 2016 class.
