Also agree with you 100%...the 16 class is as good as I've seen in NKY in a long time.. Heck, the whole state has a strong 16 class for baseball.

Congrats to Ricky !!! Agree about the class of 2016. Strongest NKY has seen in years. Should be exciting season with a lot of top notch players

This could be for numerous reasons. Ricky could actually be a junior in high school by age, so a season or two of JUCO lets him fully mature and hopefully find that D1 offer a short time down the road.

Some players will choose JUCO because it allows them to become eligible for the MLB draft well before NCAA does. As mentioned above, some kids need the extra time to mature. Some kids also need the time to get their grades in order if they did not do so in high school. Many reasons JUCO may be chosen, these young men need to find the school that is the right fit socially, athletically and academically.

Why not JUCO? More $$, more playing time, and get more freedom with your future. If I'm blessed to have a kid in that position I will strongly encourage him to look that way. I think you would be surprised by the # of kids currently playing D1 and pro ball that started this way. It's a great option if you go to a strong team and conference.

Agreed... Most people don't understand how college baseball is structered... There are many JUCO and D II programs that can and do defeat D I programs all the time.

Much like we discussed in Slone's thread...he chose to go to a strong D II program in a great Conference.

Same thing here. This is a strong JUCO baseball program and a great Conference.

 

From the outside looking in, I think it's a good fit for him.
