  1. Game played at Florence Freedom. Stringer on the mound for BW. Hibbard for the Rebels. Stringer gets BW on the board in the bottom of 1 on first pitch , sending it over the LF wall. Back and forth with Rebels leading 3-2 going into bottom of 6th Rowe has a hard hit off the LC wall that took a beechwood roll scores the tying run. Combs hits a deep shot over the RF Wall for the go ahead runs. BW #13 holds off the Rebels in the 7th for final score 5-3 BW
  2. Purnell pitched a complete game on Saturday against Henry Clay.I'm not sure who is throwing but I would guess it will not be one of the top 3 for Boone.
  3. Clyde is correct. I'm guessing Beechwood went through a lot of pitching. I know Boone would love to see one of their top dogs but at this point in the season , Boone just needs to get some at bats. From what I have seen, Boone has been affected by the rain more than most. Several weeks of one game played is not helping the offense get in a rhythm .
  4. Per Conner Baseball Twitter , the Cougars were able to pick up a game at SK to fill the hole left by Beechwood backing out of their game. Heard Beechwood is trying to back out of game against Boone on Wed at Freedom. Hopefully, That is not the case. If it isn't raining at game time and the field is good to go, the game should go on. Beechwood should honor their schedule and cancel the games at the end if they get to 36. I guess cancelling Conner and maybe Boone has more to do with pitching issues.
  5. Lets add Alec Garnett ( Conner ) to the list. Headed to Thomas More .
  6. After another long period of not playing due to rain (12 days) Rebels pick up a win on a Friday night in Warsaw,
  7. Out of the three mentioned, I would go with Ryle. The only problem that I see for Ryle is getting to the regional tourney. With the way the district is falling together, Ryle will play Boone for a spot in the tourney. Ryle/Boone's only meeting this season was a 1-0 Ryle win on an unearned run caused by a mental mistake by Boone on a failed attempt of a squeeze play which looked liked a sure out. Since the district games, Boone has changed up the lineup a little and has shown more offense and a more consistent defense. That combined with a pitcher known to quiet down the opponent's offense, especially in big games might not be what Ryle will want to see in the first round of districts.
  8. Another tough battle in the 33rd. Going to be one heck of a district tourney.
  9. Another district game where Boone beats Boone. Hopefully , with the nice weather forecast, Boone gets more than one game a week in and can get back to hitting the ball like they were several weeks ago. Rebels can't afford to give runs on errors if the offense isn't clicking. Nice job by both starting pitchers. Defensive play of the game goes to Conner's Tim Sherman with his nice diving play in left field.
  10. Does Iowa have the year round school year with several 2 week breaks ?
  11. I feel below 40, especially with the windy conditions most have seen in the last several weeks is too cold for baseball. It is no fun for anyone, teams or fans and I think it increases the chance of injuries to arms and legs. Too bad high school baseball can't be a fall sport played at the start of the school year. August, Sept and Oct would be great . Summer ball is over and most fall ball leagues are not that great unless you are playing for a high level traveling team, but I guess football doesn't want to take a chance of losing players or revenue.
  12. Congrats to Max Sims !!! Kid is getting it done !!!!
  13. Terrible night for baseball, but another tough district game in the 33rd. Coleman on the mound for the Raiders and Purnell for Boone. Both pitchers worked well tonight. Scoreless game until the fourth when Boone misplayed a sure looking out. Tough loss for the Rebels. Coleman goes the distance, Purnell works into the sixth and relieved by Elmore.
  14. Dylon Bishop - Boone Co. Headed to Thomas More
  15. Who pitched for Cov Cath? Was there a Cov Cath pitching change in the 6th that lead to Ryle's offense surge?
  16. Who pitched for both teams? Doesn't seem Scott has it going yet !
  17. Game @ Campbell County. 6 innings After the Camels receiving a big loss from across the river and Boone having games go their way, the table was turned tonight. Franzen was on the mound for the Camels and Elmore for the Rebels. Franzen had his off speed working which kept the Rebels hits to 3 or 4. Elmore had a decent start but defense just couldn't get it going tonight. Franzen gets the complete game and Elmore leaves after 5. Boone had Knoebel and Eickhoff in for relieve. The announcer had Boone with 4 errors, but I think the official book was generous with the hits. I would of had Boone with at least 7 errors if not more. The infielders couldn't figure the thick grass out and the outfielders had issues with the wind doing funny things with the ball.
  18. Maybe I should have use the kid's slang , he pitched a no-no. You can pitch a no- hitter and still have the other team score. Boone won a district game last season w/o getting a hit.
  19. Who pitched for the Camels? Was there a lot of walks involved ?
