9th Region Predictions

Featured Replies

Who comes out of the 9th? Ryle? Beechwood? CovCath? Who will it be?

Taking Ryle at the moment, but it's truly up for grabs.

Agreed.

As always, pitching match-ups will likely dictate the outcomes. I think that each of the three teams listed have the starting 8 to get hot and win the region. Ryle and Beechwood have the more dominant pitching staffs, but Cov Cath is very deep with pitching. Right now, my money would be on Ryle. Cov Cath and Beechwood play tonight, so that might be a slight peek into this question.

Out of the three mentioned, I would go with Ryle. The only problem that I see for Ryle is getting to the regional tourney. With the way the district is falling together,

Ryle will play Boone for a spot in the tourney. Ryle/Boone's only meeting this season was a 1-0 Ryle win on an unearned run caused by a mental mistake by Boone on a failed attempt of a squeeze play which looked liked a sure out. Since the district games, Boone has changed up the lineup a little and has shown more offense and a more consistent defense. That combined with a pitcher known to quiet down the opponent's offense, especially in big games might not be what Ryle will want to see in the first round of districts.

Ryle is definitely the hot team right now as winners of 14 straight.

I really like all three teams mentioned, but don't overlook Conner. They're 17-4 with losses only to Ryle and CovCath. They finally figured out how to beat CovCath in their most recent match-up and have a tendency to find ways to win games.

You are correct that it's not a given that Ryle beats Boone. No team wants Boone in game one with their ace on the mound.

The 9th region may be the most unpredictable region int he state this year; Ryle, Cov Cath, Beechwood, Boone, Conner, and don't count Highlands out, they always seem to click at the right time. Going to be a very competitive 9th region tourny this year, no doubt

I like Beechwood in this one. I think the bats come alive and they mash their way to Lexington.

Nobody stops Combs and Stringer. Beechwood. Don't rule out CovCath though. Ryle folds. Highlands doesn't stand a chance.

Really like the depth of BW's lineup. Can mash and dash from top to bottom. Lots of depth on the hill. Smart in the infield and swift in the outfield. What I have not seen is the creativity of small ball that might be needed in a close game against top pitching. Haven't seen them many times, so it might be there. At least it better be, if they are to make a deep run.

I don't dare pick one...too many potential pitching matchups that can thwart any team previously mentioned. Looking forward to seeing how it all plays out!!!

I've seen all of the ninth region teams at least once and a few twice and this is definitely one of the most competitive regions I've seen in a long time. I wouldn't be fooled by anyone's record, anyone of the teams could win the region. The only problem is that there will be a few really good teams left out after districts. Definitely one of the most interesting games will be the round one Boone/Ryle game. It's ashame that one of these teams will be heading home after the game. Should be a great game. Anyone know where or when this game is?
