  1. Updated except for the Conner game
  2. Bracket updated with locations. HERE
  3. Also after 30 games, Castleman is currently hitting .420. Very impressive for this sophomore!
  4. After 30 games, Coldiron is currently hitting .433. Great player, great kid, great parents...I wish him continued success.
  5. Pretty close. Right field line is 300, straight center is 360, and left field line is 330.
  6. Does anyone know the time/location of the semi-final games? Also, I like to include scores of the games, so PM me, submit through website, or post here.
  7. Sorry so late but I just updated the website to include this year's tournament brackets. Click Here for updated Freshman Bracket
  8. I've seen the knuckleball thrown by quite a few pitchers this season. Though I've seen it thrown more while a pitcher is warming up than against batters.
  9. Correct me if I'm wrong, but won't the 1 seed play Boone, while the 2 seed will have to play Conner, Ryle or Cooper? If so, the 1 seed has a much easier path to the Regionals. Any idea when the drawing happens?
  10. A sophomore that has yet to be mentioned is Adam Gray of Campbell Co. Didn't add up all his stats, but he is hitting .390 for Campbell Co. over the last 10 games.
  11. Agreed! Beechwood has played a fairly easy schedule up to this point. Of the 14 KY teams they've played thus far, only 2 have winning records. Not to take away from Castlelman, but it's easy to pad your stats when playing against teams like Holmes, Lloyd Memorial, Villa Madonna and Dayton...especially when you outscore those 4 teams 73-1. Starting tonight vs CovCath, Beechwood gets into the tougher part of their schedule. The next couple weeks should be very telling for Castelman, and Beechwood as a team.
  12. Used at a lot of different levels, from youth baseball through college. I've seen it used primarily for calling pitches into the catcher. On occasion, I've seen it used on offense. Pros don't use it, and likely never will. This is because catchers and pitchers call their own game and don't have a coach calling every single pitch. And on offense, how many signs are needed in a pro game? Not many. I wouldn't think a pro pitcher needs a bunt sign with a man on 1B and no outs. He knows to bunt, sign or no sign.
  13. NKY teams "On the bubble": Beechwood and CovCath.
  14. 1 Trinity 2 St. Xavier 3 McCracken County 4 Madison Central 5 Scott County 6 Lafayette 7 Male 8 Logan County 9 Pleasure Ridge Park 10 Lexington Catholic 11 Franklin-Simpson 12 Greenup County 13 Johnson Central 14 South Oldham 15 Highlands 16 Campbell County 17 Conner 18 Tates Creek 19 Ballard 20 Marion County 21 Elizabethtown 22 Hazard 23 Bowling Green 24 Perry County Central 25 Warren East
  15. CovCath, Highlands, Conner, Simon Kenton, Campbell County. Could be more, didn't check them all.
  16. Rainouts are expected. That's why most schools will schedule more than the allowed amount of games in the regular season (36). Looking at some of the bigger NKY schools' websites, the average regular season schedule seems to have about 40 games, with some as high as 48.
  17. Final from St. Henry WP: Manny Henschen (complete game) LP: Ryan Kuhr
  18. I agree this poll is far from being on the money. I was skeptical about a few of the spots when I first saw this. For example, North Oldham went 15-20 last year and are now #8 in the state...why? Likely because PBR learned they got a transfer from St. Louis that can throw 96 mph. How did he do in their season opener against St. X? 1 IP, 4H, 7R, 5BB. St. X won 15-5. Also look at South Oldham...they had a solid year in 2016, but when was the last time they won the 8th region? Ever? I think the preseason poll by KHSBCA is more accurate.
  19. This is what I found out... Score was Conner 5, Highlands 3. Highlands pitched Doty, Dee, Dreeves and Rom. Doty looked best and was the only one not to give up a run. Doty and Dreeves pitched 2 innings. Dee and Rom pitched 1. Conner pitched 6 players…Senior Nick Craddock (first 2 inn) and the rest were thought to be juniors (1 inn ea.). Craddock gave up 3 runs, 1 ER. Conner’s last pitcher walked the bases loaded in the Top of the 7th, then the game got called because of darkness…there were 2 outs??? Both teams were rusty at the plate with Highlands having only 2-3 hits and Conner 4-5 hits. Highlands scored 2 of their runs on a ground ball error with 2 outs. Conner scored 3 of their runs on passed balls / wild pitches.
  20. IMO, the top 3 are: 1. CovCath 2. Highlands 3. Conner There's more than a few ??? about most of the other teams in the region. Like... Cooper has some solid pitchers and players, but is mostly the same team from last year that only won 8 games. Can this junior heavy team turn things around this year? Beechwood lost a few GREAT players from last year. They still have plenty of talent, but are young. Ryle lost the most starting seniors from 2016 than any other top Region 9 team. Dixie returns some solid players but will likely lack depth in their pitching and hitting lineup. Same goes for St. Henry. A team that will surprise some people this year will be Holy Cross. I'd rank them in the 8-9th spot in the Region.
  21. 1 - Scott County 1 - Bowling Green 1 - Harlan County 1 - Perry County Central 1 - Elliott Co 1 - Cooper 1 - Ballard 1 - Hopkinsville 2 - Bowling Green 2 - Harlan County 2 - Cooper 2 - Hopkinsville 3 - Bowling Green 3 - Hopkinsville 5 - Bowling Green TB 127
