^^^ I left early , looks like Smallwood did pitch and NCC was hitting him too. I seen NCC a couple of times this season and they have hit the ball well. Lot of line drives.

Looks like the rain got to Florence early, is the 10 am game teams warming up or they in a rain delay?

Not a big fan of the turf mound or the turf home plate area .Hopefully, the good feedback on the new mound is correct. Pitchers don't get good traction and start using more arm than body. Is there any type of turf shoe that is better than the others for that type of turf?

Boone and Ryle are headed to the regional tourney. Any info from the other districts?

I think a PO or partial PO should qualify for POY. Does the pitcher from Bourbon Co normally a guarantee winner if his team can score a couple of runs behind him? Is the catcher at Harrison almost impossible to run on? Does he normally have game winning hits? I don't think a POY should be based only on stats unless the stats are game changing stats. A player could be hitting .500 but his hits could mean nothing on the outcome of the game.

Congrats to the Rebels for getting their region ticket validated. Good game for Purnell on the mound. Friend started off slow, but got his game going. Cooper defense was a little shakey tonight. Cooper played a better defensive game at their last meeting w/ Boone. I assume there will be a Ziegelmeyer /Ostertag match-up tomorrow.

Purnell has pitched extremely well in all outings except the two innings against the dirty birds which was mentioned before. Beside that two innings , Purnell has pitched in seven other games, facing 108 batters. During that time, he allowed only 11 hits, had 34 K's , 5 runs scored w/ only 3 Earned runs. Pretty good numbers. On offense, He is below what you have seen from him in the last several years. As the three hole hitter all season,He started off hot and led the team for the first half of the season and has watched his avg drop to .260 the last several weeks. He has been hitting the ball hard, but right at the defense. He leads the team in hits, muti-base hits and 2nd on the RBI total. Boone's game plan this year was to not over use his arm to keep him strong for the finish. He has only played his best defensive postion ( SS) only a couple of times this season and has DH a lot after pitching the game before, Combined with resting days before pitching can take a kid out of rhythm. It is hard for a kid who is as aggressive as Purnell to take a back seat to the action. IMO, The safety net has hurt his numbers, but it is good to see coaches protect a player's arm who has a bright future. Purnell's focus is to finish the season strong for his team. I'm sure he would be honored to see his name has been mentioned in this thread, but I bet his goal is just to battle hard and win some games in the next 2 weeks.

Trevin Works had another great play in CF again. The kid has had a great defensive year and his bat is heating up at the right time. Cam Faehr's bat has also picked up some nice pop in the last few weeks. Looking for the Rebels to finish strong.

I can't tell you Colonel- fan's thoughts, but Purnell's pitching this season has been excellent except two bad innings against the dirty birds. You take away the two innings from that game and he is sitting around .065 era on 5 wins against quality teams. In district play, Purnell has got the win on all 3 games including one shutout. The stats for the three games per the Rebel website are 18 Innings , 67 batters, allowed 6 hits, 3 runs, only 1ER 21 k's , 5 BB with an ERA of .050. This is against good teams in, IMO, the toughest district in the region. I think the district and region games need to play out to determine the POY. There is a lot of different game plans by coaches during the season. I think the true reading of a player will be decided on how they do during their district games, district tourney, and region tourney. Like the other kids mentioned, I think Purnell would tell you his goal is to do his part to help his team reach their goals. Whoever gets the POY award, It is a reflection on the team around that player.

Rebels traveled to McNicholas HS and picks up the win, Cameron Faehr was on the mound for the Rebels. It was the first start on the mound for the senior since freshman year due to different injuries. Cam goes 4 innings and picks up the win. Hunter Eickhoff comes in on relief and picks up the save. Also, Hunter picks up his first varsity hit. Works and Floyd both had awesome plays while patrolling the outfield.

Jack of all Trades, in the 33rd , the seeding games don't mean much either. Boone went undefeated in district but their opponent in theTourney will be decided by a coin. No real advantage of winning district seeding games in the 33rd.The district is always evenly matched .

i guess you are talking about the scrimmage line, that wasn't toward Clyde, that was toward your comment in the CCH/ Highlands that ruffled a few feathers. Just a joke, nothing more.

Does anyone know when the coin flip will take place to determine the seeding?

Purnell is a junior and listed at 6'-3" and around 190. He will be playing summer ball with Midland

Clyde, Highlands did do what was needed to get the job done. Boone needs to get out of the offensive slump and put some pressure on the other pitchers. With all of the other talk, I forgot to mention the great job the announcer did. I think that was the best announcer I have heard at any high school game. Great Job!!!!
