Congrats Mitchell !

Heard today that Purnell has already received 3 letters of interest from D1 schools this week after his great performance in Ft. Myers. Exciting times for these players. It is great to see players getting attention after years of hard work. Congrats to Purnell.

Hellbird, It is funny to hear you talk about Lamb not having players around him. Lamb has a better team around him than Floyd had last season and Floyd never played QB before and got no respect from you. So are you saying if Lamb had went to (transfer) , lets say Cov Cath, with maybe better players than Boone, Would his talents show out better?:

Great News! Glad to hear Aaron will be playing some ball this Fall. I'm glad this was handle the right way by the coach. I think some of the threads forgot we were talking about a kid and a game and a lot of assumptions were made and portraits of Aaron were poorly painted. Glad it worked out, GO REBELS!

I would have to say no other DB in NKY would have did any better last year if they were thrown into the QB spot at Boone last season. Boone was a mess last year. They had key players with season ending injuries.They had a new coach who didn't know his players' ups and downs. You had players quitting during the season for different reasons. It takes a team to compete. I'm not going to knock a kid trying to reach his goals. I know he works very hard all year trying to better himself. I can't wait to see Aaron playing with a sound squad this season. Best of luck to Aaron . I hope Boone's coaches have been able to get everyone on the same page this season and start turning their program around.

Sorry to hear about Evan's injury. Hopefully, All goes well in his recovery and Evan can get back out and do what he enjoys! He will be in our prayers and thoughts.

A home run is a home run, but remember Ruth and Gehrig hit home runs with bats and balls nowhere the quality we have now. Little hard to compare. I haven't seen a high school game at Ludlow's field, but I know I seen u12 teams hitting it to the RF/RC fence several years back. I was surprise the u12 players were not hitting it over. At these games, If the pitcher had a little more velocity, I might have seen some of these 12 yr olds sending one. Hard to get a hitter to stay back and stroke one. How many HR's did Ludlow have or give up this season?

Scrarch43, Hopefully your are just trying to stir the pot a little. I think I have seen post years back where you said you are a high school coach. Hopefully that is not true, because that would make your post even worse bashing a kid. As you know, Boone was in the first season of a new coach who really didn't get a chance to know his players. They had a lot of injuries and IMO a year with not a lot of strong talent. Floyd was the best option they had at QB. I'm sure he didn't want the position, but he did it for his team. I bet he would of loved to have all the hurt players healthy and playing in the positions that were best for the team. I'm sure Boone will be better this season with the Coach having a full off season getting the chance to know his players strengths and weaknesses. They will get back some of the injured players from last season. If Floyd stays. he will be in position to play where he could do the team better. Floyd will be greatly missed if he leaves and Cov Cath will gain a great athlete and even a greater kid. Maybe you don't like him because he is leaving to better himself, if so, be mad. But while Floyd was playing for Boone, no matter if it was on the football field , basketball court, or baseball diamond, he was out there playing hard with no QUIT to the end for his TEAM!!!!!

I feel Boone will be in the mix. Rebels will not be able to make up the loss of Ganns arm, but they will be deeper overall. Several quality pitchers will be moving up to varsity next season.

Hellbird, I think we are trying to make different points. In almost every game, there will be errors, but the game at Meinken, Rebels mistakes were extreme and they were errors you probable would not have seen if it was played at Cooper or Boone. I felt Cooper's mistakes at Meinken was also due to the poor field conditions. I think the game was decided on who got the most bad hops. The other two games, pitching was great, hitting was low and it came down to which team made the least mistakes. IMO, Mistakes in the district games was on the players, not the field. No error by either team sticks in my mind as a bad hop, etc. Whoever watch all three games, would probable agree, Meinken was not a true defensive reading of Boone and I felt it was not a good reading of Cooper. I never discounted the win,just saying that field gave a poor reading that shouldn't be used to measure either team.

Hellbird, I can't talk for Cooper, but I would say the several miss balls in the infield by Cooper was due to bad hops and the drop fly ball in CF had something to do with the swale he ran into. I do know enough about Boone to say the miss balls in the infield and LF was due to poor field conditions. There was more misplayed balls by the middle infielders that game than the rest of the season. I would say the field was the reason. For the first district game, it was a well pitch game by both starters until the incident at second and the uproar by the fans. After that Boone was able to get a few key hits and made the most of it. That game came down to the relievers. That game just needs to stay forgotten and move on. Both sides could have great arguments on thaqt one. On the District Tourney game, both teams scored unearned runs by passed balls at the plate. It was a 1-1 tie until Boone started the bottom of the 4th w/ 4 hits and a walk . That game was earned by great hits , no errors were involved. Also, Boone's middle infielders had no errors and had awesome highlight plays. Purnell had a nice diving catch at short and Teegarden went way in the hole, both to take away hits. That is the defense , Boone saw all year, not what was shown at Meinken. They should think about making that field a dump site. LOL

Relievers for the Doc Morris game was Geiske and Martin

Ganns didn't pitch against Cooper in the Doc Morris game. Johnson was the starting pitcher. A win is a win, but I wouldn't take much from that game. Rebels scored their runs early on a drop fly ball and several mistakes in the infield by Cooper and Cooper got their runs late by several mistakes by the Rebels. Not too many earned runs by either team. The field gets credit for that game. I think the district game and the district tourney game on real fields gave a more accurate showing of each team. Ganns started both district games and got a no decision on the first , with Purnell picking up the win and Ganns pitched a complete game in the tourney for the win.

Good luck to whatever Aaron decides to do his senior year. It would be a big loss for Boone Co. Great family!

I don't think Footmaster was listing them in order of talent or strength, just a list of some of the top. The ones to look out for would be the sophomores that had great varsity seasons, but maybe didn't get to show all they had because of a strong senior class, which is a couple on this list.

Congrats to the Cougars. Way to make the 33rd proud!

I would agree Boone would of liked to see someone besides Dixie in the first game, but I would also think Dixie probable would of loved not to see Ganns the first game. I know Dixie and King have done great this season, but I don't think any pitcher has been more effective as Ganns. Going to be a good one! I think it will come down to defense. Which team lets that hard roller past them on the turf? Good luck to both.

Sophomore Jeffrey Purnell selected to 33rd District All - Tourney team with 6 seniors. I think all of the seniors selected are playing college ball. Not a bad group to be recognized with. Congrats to Purnell.:thumb:

Very good game for Teegarden. He is definitely good at running up a pitcher's count. Good luck to Teegarden and his Rebels teammates tonight when they complete their game against Conner.
