Conner 4 Boone County 2

Featured Replies

Final from Boone. Congrats to the Cougars !!!!! Good luck to Conner and Boone next week. Congrats to the players selected to the 33rd ALL- Tourney !!

Did I hear correctly that Ward hit a 3-run HR in the 7th to win it?

Yep....That put Conner ahead 4-2. Possible double play was botched right before he came up that would have gotten Boone out of the inning. Boone did put some pressure on Conner with a lead off double, but couldn't plate anything in the bottom half.

Cougars had a nice year in the sports category with their other 3 schools in the county. Kudos to the Cougars!

For our friends in blue from last night’s game:

The men in blue had a tough game. Boone's starter was jumpy Wednesday night and balked repeatedly. No call by the umps. Conner players, coaches and fans were all over the umps but they refused to enforce the balk rule. It reached the point where the Boone coaches were coming out of the dugout yelling at their own pitcher to stop balking. He did it a couple more times, probably caught up in the game not realizing what he was doing, but the umps still wouldn't call it. Several of the balks came with Conner having runners on 2nd and 3rd in a 0-0 game.

Last night in the continuation of the game, the umpires inexplicably called a balk on Conner's pitcher for dropping the ball. He was on the side of the mound , about half way between the rubber and the grass. Conner argued and the umps conferred, but between the 3 of them still got it wrong.

There was another bad call on the bases in the bottom of the 7th but fortunately didn't lead to any runs being scored.

Just so we know, is it BlueTip because your an umpire and are a student of the rules or is that just a name?? Was at another game so before I respond I'm just wanting to make sure this was an educated assumption or not.

Great game by both teams.

Great game by both teams.

You are correct, just a great game by two really good teams. They've played twice now, the first was the 6-5 extra inning game that Boone won and now this one by Conner with the highlight real home run. If these two played ten times I'm guessing the series would end up 5-5. Both teams are fun to watch.

In each of the last two games the winning team had to come from behind late. Extremely even.
