I would agree that Blake Rodersheimer was one of the best catchers last season if not the best. I would like to know how many kids stole bases against him last season. Also, A pitchers stats has a lot to do with the skill and knowledge of the catcher behind the plate. Boone had a few pitchers last season who had great seasons including NKY player of the year , Trey Ganns. A catcher can make or break a pitcher. He will be a hard player to replace behind the plate.

I wouldn't say CCH handled Boone easily. Until Stockwell got in foul trouble in the 3rd quarter, a upset was very possible. I agree with another poster, if Stockwell is in the game, no team is safe. Boone is having a great season considering they started the season w only three players w/ any real varsity time. Not one starter from JV last season played this season. Wonder what Boone could of accomplished if some of last season players would of played this year.

Based on the who the nominees played against, I would say Huff from Beechwood. But I agree w/ STOCKWELL on Junior being in the mix.

I seen Walkenhorst play a lot in the Summer. He played an excellent OF for the Bluegrass Lions and has a good approach at the plate. Kid takes the game serious and plays hard.

Boone is a total different team w/o Stockwell.

Clyde, I agree with you on the tourney format . My first post had more to do with team talent, not so much on how they do in tourneys with their top pitchers on the mound. I was looking for more info on some of the teams mentioned in this thread to get a better feel for the team's defense and offense and how stacked they really are.It doesn't take much offense or defense to win games when the number one keeps the opposing team to a couple of hits and no walks. I seen a few games where a team could get by with their number one on the mound, catcher and maybe a couple in the field, just in case a ball was left high. That type of game doesn't show team talent, just talent on the mound. Without their number 1 or 2 on the mound, are they still a good team or just a mediocre team?

On watching a team with its best 9; That would mean a game with a team's number one on the mound. That doesn't always show how good a team is. It normally shows how good the number one is. How did these teams on this thread do record-wise with their 3,4,5 pitcher on the mound. I think that would get you a better idea on a team's talent. A little more offense and defense needed in these games.

Teegarden is actually a sophomore. He was called up last season because of injuries in the infield. He became the starting 2nd basemen and played SS when Purnell pitched. IMO, They are one of the better combos up the middle.

I remember Seay when he was younger, pretty good arm, but back then soccer seem to be his money ball. Does he still play soccer?

I know of a few players who quit because of problems w/ the coach, but acting like a buddy was not one of them. Probable somewhere opposite of that. Boone's biggest problem would be talent level. They have some talented kids, but I feel the level is low compared to other schools in the district. I think Boone's only chance of having winning football programs again would be for the school district to change the layout of the district where Boone would have more area to pull from.

You will most likely see the higher velocity next month at the Pre-Season All- State next month.

Boone lost the least out of the 4 district teams. Boone lost only 3 everyday players and I feel will be defensively as good or better in those three spots. They will have to have some step up and fill their offensive holes but I feel they will fill those needs.As for Pitching,Ganns will be missed. Yes he was very strong on the mound, but Cooper lost Dunn, Conner lost Ross and Ryle lost some seniors. I think out of the 4 teams , Boone with Purnell and Ryle with Zigelmeyer will fill the void the best. Both pitchers are in the mid to high 80's and good back up pitches. They will be a force the next two seasons. Last year, Dunn/Ganns match ups were very exciting, I think we are in for some bigger things with Purnell/Zigelmeyer match ups in the next couple years in the 33rd.

I would have to agree with district opener match ups. If each team's ace are healthy and full strength and based on last season performances. Conner will have a hard time getting past Ryle or Boone to make it to regions.

My top 5 in alphabetical order would be - Beechwood - Boone - Dixie - Highlands - Ryle I would have to keep Conner a sleeper again this year until I see them play with the above 5. I think Conner was hurt the most with the loss of their ace compared to the 5 teams mentioned.

Did a healthy Stockwell make the difference in the outcome? This score is closer to what I thought the first meeting would be.

Last season, Highlands went out of town on Spring Break and got a lot of games in while everyone else, sat watching the rain. I think that trip helped them get started. Are they planning another trip this season?

I heard Junior Stockwell for Boone went out with a foot injury. Any idea on the severity of injury? That is a big hole to fill with limited experience and size on the bench. Did his injury have anything to do with the Holy Cross comeback from a early hole?

SG ESQ, You are correct that HS performance doesn't count toward the PBR rankings, I thought showcases were not until early spring and after HS ball, but I see where there is going to be a showcase for 2016 players in Jan.

I think the rankings are updated a couple of times a year, most likely not again until after HS ball.
