Early 9th region tournament thoughts

Featured Replies

Out of district 33

Boone

Ryle

District 34

Dixie

Ludlow

District 35

Cov Cath

Beechwood

District 36

Highlands

Bellevue

I would have Ryle, Dixie, Beechwood, and Highlands winning their districts. I'd expect the region title to go to Highlands or Beechwood, but it would be no suprise at all to see Cov Cath win it. All 8 teams could make some noise. Thoughts???

I gotta think that Conner has a good shot in the 33rd...

And in the 34th... Tight race for second spot. Ludlow, St. Henry and Lloyd are all fairly evenly matched squads.

That will be a great district battle to keep an eye on.

Unless Ludlow or St . Henry has a bad night, I see them taking care of Lloyd pretty easily. Lloyd did not impress me whatsoever.

St.Henry beats Dixie 4-2 last night in a district game. Not sure how the 34th stacks up now. St.Henry has beat Lloyd and Dixie lost to Ludlow in the all A (not sure if that counts as the district game).

Boone goes undefeated in district play. If Conner beats Cooper, could be a 3 way tie w/ records of 1-2.

Flip of a coin to determine 2nd,3rd, and 4th seed. No district is tougher in NKY.

NCC playing great baseball currently. They are the number 2 seed in the district....

Highlands obviously the one, but NCC had a real shot to beat them in their seeding game.

NCC lost to Cooper last night 8-6. IMO I still think NCC (as opposed to Bellevue) and Highlands come out of the 36th district this year.

I'm not sure when St Henry and Ludlow play again. I know that they were scheduled to play a second time right after the All-A at Florence Freedom; but there was a scheduling mistake/confusion and St. Henry did not show up (they thought the game was the next night). Both the umpires and Ludlow were at Florence Freedom ready for the game. I have no idea how it will be/is being handled.

2-4 in their last 6 games is playing great baseball?

They beat a solid Bellevue team who beat them earlier in the year 7-1 and hung close with Highlands so I am assuming that is what the poster meant. They are short on talent but Pangallo can carry them and if Moeves/Workman can pitch well they could advance out of Districts. I dont think they have enough bats to make a dent in the Regional Tourney though.

Highlands clearly has to be the favorite as they have the best pitching staff of any team right now. Not sure how they are ranked as a staff but having Jones (KWC Signee), Martin (St. Cath commit), Raisor, Bunning, Doty....that is 5 very solid Starters. Noe has been great out of the bullpen as well.

The key will be if Ramey, Mills, Whitford can drive in runs during the tournament.

How is Ramey doing this year? I haven't seen a single varsity game this year so I don't know. He was so much fun to watch last year though.

Over the last 3 years there have been 3 clear favorites going into the regional tournament. Of the 3, only 1 won it or even made it to the championship. So goes a 1 and out tourney!

33rd district has been throwing a twist into the tourney the last couple of years. Looking to do it again.
