Highlands...........Jones, Martin, Raisor, etc. etc etc Need I say more?

I think Highland's pitching depth gives them a definite advantage on the third game, a little edge on the second game,but based on who they get in the first round, it might be more of which Birds gets the key hits.

So,you really want to play Highlands in the first game when your ace is going against theirs. Not ideal maybe, but you probably have a better chance then.

What I mean is that the Bird's # 3 and #4 are most likely a step above the rest of the fields' #3 and #4 . Their #1 and #2 against one of the other top teams 1&2's are more evenly matched, so it will come down to which team can pull some hits together and who has the best defensive game.

I know there is a lot of talk on how deep their pitching staff is, but I think Highlands success has been due to some strong bats. Can someone's ace quiet them ?, who knows. Thats why they play the game.

I was hoping to see games where the Birds played more of the top teams like Cov Cath or Dixie's aces or Beechwood w/ Fieger. The Ryle game, I bet was early in the season. I don't know if I would want to face Ziegelmeyer late in the season.

Ryle was first week as was Stringer.

St.Henry beats Dixie 4-2 last night in a district game. Not sure how the 34th stacks up now. St.Henry has beat Lloyd and Dixie lost to Ludlow in the all A (not sure if that counts as the district game).

 

St Henry is in the driver's seat for sure after beating Dixie.

 

Ludlow plays Lloyd today in a district seeding game. Since Ludlow lost to Dixie, it could theoretically end up in a 3-way tie for first in the 34th...

 

Lloyd can knock Ludlow out of that scenario today though...

What do those teams you mentioned have in terms of pitching depth? The names I have heard of are Young at Cov Cath and Smallwood at Dixie.

I would say they are the Aces for each team. I really don't know their depth. What I have been looking for is how the Birds would fair against some of the better teams w/ that team's ace on the mound. I think the birds win percentage odds get better as their team and their opponents go deeper into their rotations. Bottom line is that a team needs to get past that first game to bring pitching depth into the mix.

Ludlow beat Lloyd 9-3. Lyons got the complete game win...

Slone went 3-4 again, I believe it's the 4th or 5th straight game where he's had at least 3 hits.

So this means a 3-way tie in the 34th is quite possible. It all hinges on the Ludlow / St Henry match up, which is yet to be re-scheduled.
