- Pretty classless move by the Beechwood band to play their instruments during play in a few of Cov Caths drives of the 2nd half. Besides being classless, it's also against the rules, which the Cov Cath coaches were yelling to the refs about while it was happening. Ridiculous that the refs completely ignored this and didn't at least give a warning.

Why is music playing a big deal? They're not golfing. If it were a big deal there would be a rule in the rulebook about it.

I was particularly impressed with the Beechwood band, strategically wailing their lovesicles right as the CC offense got over the ball. Stay classy tigerlillies

1) The band is not to play or cheers be given when the ball is alive

by rule.

2) Persons subject to the rules, including bands, shall not create

any noise that prohibits a team from hearing its signals. Drums, cymbals, bells and mechanical noisemakers shall not be used to assist cheering.

 

AND

 

There is, not sure which rule book, but mechanical or artificial noise makers are not permitted during play.

The rule in the link only covers school supplied equipment. I cannot find anything about fans bringing noisemakers.

Bands playing during play is no issue with me, or music, I don't care. The teams have to adjust, and it didn't hurt CCH.

BW band is out of control, and has been for years. For some reason they think it's about them, winning 1a state championships against schools with 6 kids in the band has gone to thier head. The director runs rough shod over the spineless AD, they interupt frosh and middle school practice all the time. Glad another fan base got to see it first hand. Dont blame the Tigers football program for it, band is simply allowed to do what they want when they want by the administration.

Some things never change, back in the 80s when I played for Beechwood we only practiced on the football field once a week because the natural grass surface couldn't take the pounding. The band seemed to be on the field every day and with their repetitive routines they completely wore the grass out in some areas of the field. It was apparent to me then that the band definitely outranked the football team. Just sayin.

Forget about it. Game was in hand. It's good experience for the offense.

 

 

Beechwood's band is no joke. I was thoroughly entertained at halftime. Awesome show!

Nobody pays attention to them except their parents. Doubt they were even noticed outside of half time

To get the facts out there, it was later in the second half. On maybe four 3rd down plays the band made noise while the CCH QB was under center. No impact on the game. I am proud that the band was football smart enough to know when to play and try to mess with the Colonels. Those Beechwood bandies know their football. :up:

 

Seriously, it should not happen and I am sure it won't again. Zero impact on a game that was already decided.

That is funny....I remember in 1986 our coach at Bellevue Dan Hill used to point at our game field while we were on the practice field and he called it the Band Field. We would spend our last 15 min of practice there running dry offense on the 20 and he would say....Allright fellas let's head over to the band field. He hated the band.

Funny and yes the bands along with soccer use the football field more than the three football teams at most schools.

They werent playing music, they were just making noises with their instruments on a couple of 4th down plays. I wouldn't necessarily call it classless, more like "silly"
