NewCath travels to Burlington Pike, and with a greatly played 2nd half bury the Rebels at home.

 

This was the textbook "tale of two halves" tonight, as the Breds had a very sub-par shooting 1st half and did not implement a full-court press as they have in their previous games. Boone Co. held a 13-10 led after 1 period of play, has the Breds had difficulty from the field. The 2nd stanza was more of the same, and Boone Co. held a 22-17 advantage with 2:40 remaining. However, the Breds were able to bury back to back "triples" from Luke Moeves and John Ludwig to closeout the half, to take a one led to the locker room at 23-22.

 

Whatever Coach Dawn said during the break obviously hit home with the Breds because they came out in the 3rd quarter and played like a team possessed. Unlike the 1st half where they didn't go with their full-court press, they came out with a vengeance in the 3rd with the press, and forced Boone Co. into double digit turnovers and steals. Also, they found their shooting touches as well and lit the scoreboard up, as they out score the Rebels 29-6 in the 3rd.....:eek:

 

NewCath is off the remainder of the week to prepare for their Tuesday, Dec. 22 match-up at the Finn Center against Holy Cross....get there early if you want a seat, also, prepare to sweat. :lol2:

I agree that Coach Dawn must have gave the "speech" at half.They came out with an energized press that made Boone work, but the difference was the 3 ball. NCC caught fire outside the arc and Boone just can't seem to defend the 3. Would man/man defense help when they come across great 3pt shooting teams? The zone seems to give away too many open shots. On offense, Boone gets a lot of so called easy shots under the basket, but can't seem to finish. I'm sure the Rebels will keep working and that young girl will have something to cheer about. Boone has started with a very tough schedule for such a young team. After Friday, In their first 6 games, They will have played Holy Cross, Cooper, NCC, Conner, Newport. Besides Grant Co. , Nothing lower than 7th in Walter's 9 region review for this week.

B-Ball season brings on happy problematic dilemmas. Now I'm in a quandary because I'd really like to see both games. The good news is that both will be available on archive.
