Congratulations to Coach Fraley and the Royals for what most consider a HUGE upset, they answered everything Elliot had tonight and were the better TEAM tonight. Elliot's shots weren't falling and that had a lot to do with their play, but Elliot did not have their usual passion tonight. I understand exactly what the earlier poster said about playing 4 on 5. Elliot will not reach their full potential until they get every one playing with the same intensity that most of them have. Aside from that, it was a great high school basketball game with a lot of ebb and flows that wasn't decided until the final minute. I'm sure Elliot County will be back with a vengeance, but tonight, its hats off to the Royals, and I think they realize they haven't won anything yet, but it will be interesting to see how they respond in the finals. If this team has truly "matured" , they could get "scary":scared: I don't know if they are the best team of all time, but they could at least give last years Russell team a good game :argue:

Coach Fralie has his team going in the right direction, and Rose Hill is no longer a two man team. We will find out tomorrow night , but after East Carter, Rose Hill is probally the only other team in the 16th that could "potentially" have a decent shot to upset the Lions. Should be a good night for fans of high school basketball. (plus it is a great honor to play against the olympic team ) The Elliot County boys always give you your money's worth:thumb: After traveling all that way to Bath County, I sure hope Coach Mays gives his starters lots of playing time so we get a chance to see them LIVE and in person :lol:

Matt would be a good fit anywhere! Walls missed 4 free throws in a row, which is not like him, but then he came back and hit two big threes, Jones loves him, he is a competitor

I have had the priviledge of coaching Matt and traveling with Matt all over the country. He has always been the most popular kid with his teammates, which tells you a lot. I lost count of all the big shots and big plays he has made over the years! He is as good as they come:thumb:

Fairview could have easily have won this game. Big 4th quarter by the tomcats. Coleman came up big, Skaggs hit big free throws, and Thomas was huge all night. Very good game to watch

Elliot County has a rare group of boys that have a true passion for basketball. They probally put more time into it than anyone in the state. Now that their hard work is paying off , people don't want them to use it? What would happen in the classroom if you had a student getting a hundred on every test and everyone else in the class getting below 80? Would you ask the brilliant student to dumb it down so that he doesn't stand out from the rest of the class? Or would you applaud the hard work and his results? I don't know what Coach Mays does to motivate his kids, but whatever it is , it is working, and he has earned the right to keep doing whatever he wants to do with his team. Don't dumb it down Coach Keep playing at YOUR level let somebody else try to get up there with you Iron sharpens Iron:ylsuper:

Fairview will win IF 1. They get Jackson more involved in the paint 2. They get back on defense and don't give up the easy basket on the break and They use their "6th man advantage", Rexy needs to take a couple of early charges on Thomas and get him on the bench:thumb: (or at least alter a few of his shots)

2 great kids may have made an emotional decision that they may want to reconsider when they wake up in the morning. All of this public discussion does not benefit them. I don't understand why some people want to "pounce" on the first sound of bad news, especially when it involves kids and coaches. Players have ups and downs over the course of the season, (kinda like life) let them work out the downs in private, and applaud the ups in public:thumb:

Wow, sounds like some of those kids got to go to LCA for the same price they could have gone to Tates Creek or Bryan Station:sleep:

Rose Hill competing well against some top competition, other players besides the big 2 stepping up, could be a big week (and a big month) for them coming up:thumb:

Ashland and Russell is open enrollment, I doubt Russell or Ashland has fielded a football or basketball team in years where everyone has lived within their "district"

Leonard is an explosive athlete, with a lot of upside. His parents are good people and his Dad just got a better business opportunity. I wish them well

While Mason County is favored, and may very well win the game, I'm going to take Lex Cath because they have more depth, and Novosel, Smart, and Stewart can get it done under pressure. Miller tends to take a few plays off and you can bet the Lex Cath boys will be playing ever possession. Setty could be the difference maker for Mason . Lex Cath can't let him get rolling behind the arc. I look for Smart to guard him and Setty probally hasn't had to shoot over that kind of length this year. No way is this a big double digit win either way Could be a classic:ylsuper:

Elliot should beat Cov Cath, but they won't get their 100 points average For Elliot to beat Mason, the Younger Knipp has to match his older brother's intensity level

Mays knows exactly what he is doing, Faulkners and Ferguson are used to going about 5 hours a day, they expect a refund when they only get one game a day. They will be the freshest team in the tournament playing only one game a day. On another note, Ferguson has gotten stronger and his jump shot looks really good. He is shooting the ball as good as anyone in the state right now.
