Hey, I didn't know anyone was watching these kids are keeping me young People have no idea the level of competition we are playing out here, the Houston Select team that beat us by 7 had the Atlantic Celtics beat until the last 36 seconds when they missed a couple of layups and free throws and let them win it. Atlantic Celtics is one of the best teams in the country with Kentucky, Georgia, Georgetown and several other high d-1 recruits. I wouldnt not be surprised to see them on National Tv tomorrow on Fox Sports playing against the nike champion. A lot of these kids will be major factors in College Athletics over the next few years. The Singleton kid from the Celtics is going to be a lottery pick imo, and he was just one of many "studs"

Cameron Hall is playing a lot, more 2 than 1, very physical game at this level

Clevenger was playing a lot of point before he sprained his ankle but he is a tough kid and I look for him to play in Los Angeles

Ds 16's played a very tough DC ASSault who have picked up a couple of key players since Cincinnatti, and they have beat everyone up until tonight by 50+, DS went into game without Matt Clevenger who sprained an ankle earlier, that left Ethan Faulkner as the primary ball handler against a swarming DC ASsault team who has several high d-1 players. Ethan played a heckuva game and had 29 points, but it wasn't enough as the DS team lost 73-62, I look for DC Assault to win the tournament

Clint Step had amazing day today, 11-14 from the field for 33 points, hitting 10 3 pointers, 6 in a row, the kid is going to have a 150+ 3 point season before his high school days is over

Hard to say right now, I think Matt would be a great fit for Eastern Kentucky though

Matt Thomas is playing very well, getting a lot of conversation, hitting some big shots, DS east ties for first in their pool, Tournament start tomorrow, if they win first game, they should get a game with Atlantic Celtics who won the take 5 cincy tournament. All the boys are playing well and enhancing their scholarship opportunities. DS West team won their pool outright, and DS 16 cam in second in their pool with Ethan Faulkner and Stephen Mcfarland Joining them for the tournament, look for them to "make a run" Kentucky is being well represented in Vegas!:thumb:

DS-17 WEST is now 2-0 with wins over New york abssynian and Indiana Dawgs, Jordan Lee seems to be a good pickup for the west team, the ds 16's lost a close one to a Memphis team, by 6 . Ds 16's are playing with 7 players, waiting for Mcfarland and Ethan Faulkner to join them, made a big difference tonight. Clint Stepp hit about 4 3's in a row in about 2 minutes to give the 16's a shot, play monday at 3.40. Ds West and Ds East play in the same gym tomorrow at 11.40 Lots of visibility from College Coaches today

I think the actual score was 75-66 as ds east team had a solid win over a talented San Francisco team. Everyone contributed to the win, Clark Stepp led us in scoring, Jordan Smart hit some big shots early to get us going, Matt Thomas, Nathan Novosel, Richie Phares , Landon Slone, and Leonard Macon were at or in double figures, Phares and Macon both had double digit rebounds. DS East plays St Louis Gateway tomorrow morning who beat Team Oklahoma earlier. Had about 30 colleges watching the game. DS 16u team had a blowout game and are getting ready to play a tough team from Memphis. Will be a tough game without the Faulkners and Mcfarland, but the 16u team is playing very well, coming off a runnerup finish in the Morgantown Jamfest

Tyler had an opportunity to go to Florida and he took advantage of it

I know the Derek Smith teams are on their way to Las Vegas today, and I know team Kentucky is our In Los Angeles, this is a HUGE evaluation period for these kids in their attempts to get college scholarships. ds 16's are in the final four this morning ds 17's were beat out last night in triple overtime by East Coast Fusion 16's are rolling!

Derek Smith 16's and 17's both won their pool at the Morgantown Jamfest. The 17's will advance to play the shining stars Ohio tomorrow while the 16's play East Coast Fusion. Tournament is very well attended, just saw Darius Miller play in front of Rick Pitino, Bob Huggins, Gillespie, Belien, Texas, and a few more. Both DS teams are playing very well and getting some great exposure. Jordan Smart had a big game today with 5 3's as the ds team beat Kobe Bryants old aau team out of Philadelphia, 72-45. Clark Stepp had two solid games at point, Matt Thomas and Landon Slone have hit some big shots, Cam Hundley and Evan Faulkner are playing great defense, and the post is getting great play from Nathan Novosel, Leaonard Macon, and Richie Phares. Had about 15 d-1 coaches at our last game. If the ds team wins their first tournament game tomorrow, they will probally get to match up against the Baltimore Stars, who have two top 100 players on their roster, one committed to Georgetown and one being chased by Louisville, Game will be played on the wvu colliseum floor. DS 16U HAD a huge win over KC pump and run, a nationally ranked program by 2 on a last second put back, Roy Williams was there to watch the entire game There has been a big Turnout of College Coaches at this event, from some places like UCLA, Duke, UK, Cincy, Louisville, North Carolina and everywhere in between. DS east has Lost 3 competitve games to nationally ranked opponents, Carolina Raptors (who won Bob Gibbons as 16u) New England Playaz, and Seatle Rotary Select. Kentucky kids just don't have the inside strength that the national powers have who have multiple 6-8 and up players. Very good tournament though and great exposure for Kentucky kids. DS 16u plays DC Assault at noon today for their pool championship.

Your proving my point, which was a players overall ability is best determined by paid professionals who make a living off of evaluating talent for their teams and get fired if they don't pick the right kids. d-1 isn't the overiding factor, although a big one, but there are a lot of great players who couldnt cut it academically or had other issues. Bottom line, your example of Rodman and Payton is true, but their abilities were "validated" by someone who got paid to make those decisions and they got college scholarships and played professionally. I'm not that familiar with the players on your list, but did they play anywhere after High school? I'm sure none of them played professionally or I would have known that, but just curious as to what they did with basketball after high school? Rick Hensley played at TCU and was a key player that beat the #1 team in the state in the finals of the regional in 1972. If I was making a list for Russell, I would have to have him on it

Maybe it would be a more rational argument and settle the IQ debate if you listed all the Russell players who have made first team all state and received a d-1 scholarship. Seems like that criteria would eliminate most of the "personal" opinion I don't think its a long list

Thats why you have 12 players, that still gives you 10 if 2 can't make it and I guarantee the other 10 kids weren't complaining about the extra playing time. Part of Kentucky's problem is there is a much bigger drop off in talent on the bottom of their roster than there is at Indiana. Indiana went d-1 all the way down, Kentucky can't say that. I don't see any problem at all in playing the game with 10 players instead of 12. Makes for a much better rotation and more playing time for the remaining 10.

I'm not sure you call it "coaching", they jut let me hang out with them:D but they are all getting calls from d-1 coaches will know more after July, but I wouldnt be surprised to see them all land at some level of d-1 I'm sure they will all get an opportunity to get a free education:thumb:
