  1. Without question I believe there are other planets with life out there. In addition, I don't think we know which planets can support life. Just because the basis for life exists on this planet the way it does, doesn't mean that it's like that trough out the universe. JMO, but it's hard to think out of all that stuff out there that life doesn't exist elsewhere. I'm sure there is stuff out there we can't even comprehend.
  2. 3A West Carter hasn't been open either.
  3. Let's be real, if basketball were having it's practice time or even summer time reduced this wouldn't be an issue. This is a basketball state. This ruling is not for the kids, because it will put kids on the field in more danger of head injuries. It's simple, we do not have enough bodies in control that understand football. Maybe I'm in the minority but most of the players where I coach would start practice right now if they could. Not a lot to do for most kids these days that isn't trouble. If football practice is the most of a kids worries then he is pretty lucky. As a coach I believe that football should never be played without a helmet. No practice or 7 on 7s without them. That is a true players first philosophy. Restricting helmets only adds to the frequency of injuries and the severity of those head injuries. It also would add to the acclimation time, which is dangerous because it will restrict the number of days in pads before scrimmages, hitting, etc. You want kids to be safe let them wear helmets any time they're on the field. Just my opinion.
  4. Couldn't you solve this by sending some tape and going to camps at the private, NAIA schools in state? If they can get a full academic ride, would Centre be a possible destination for both football and academics?
  5. Excellent HS football player. Hope he does well at both sports.
  6. Coach, do you still run a combine in Louisville? I thought that you did at one point.
  7. Hit up the NAIA schools. If you know your kid isn't D1 don't waste much time. Combine at EKU or somewhere similar if you must but be realistic. Unless the measureables are there, NAIA will likely be the best fit money wise, as well as having a shot at playing. You said you sent film to KCU. Well, they just got a new HC so you may want to send it again. If they have a combine, go to it. I'd hit up every NAIA team in the state.
  8. Outstanding player. Glad to see that he's going to Morehead and becoming an Eagle. Great combination of playing close to home and being on an up and coming team. Best of luck to the young man.
  9. Congrats. Good luck to the young man. Seemed like an outstanding kid the last four years.
  10. Like Saul, but I have my doubts about the series.
  11. That big OLine made my job easy as a DC. Just had to protect that big lead.
  12. This game was an awesome experience last year. Hope all of the kids enjoy it as much as the kids last year seemed to. Good chance for these young men to make some new friends and compete along with some of the players they've been matched up with for years.
  13. East Carter is still open. Need to add them.
  14. Get this kid a scholarship. Now.
  15. I'll nominate Kristen Mayo from East Carter. Sophomore PG. Multiple D1 offers already. Not crazy stats, but an excellent player.
  16. Prayers from Carter County. Such a hard time of year for a tragedy like this to happen.
  17. East Carter has not been filled.
  18. Ben is clearly taller than his coach, Jeremy Webb. Jeremy is a full 6'6", so I'd put Ben in the 6'8-6'9" range. Can't speak for the two from Morgan, but those numbers sound right.
  19. They clear the stadium every game. If you're in the coaches area you wait in the hallway after each game. Can't enter early.
  20. The first question is one that needs to be addressed in these studies. Before concluding that football is dangerous, don't we need something to compare it to? Implement it any way you want. Make people aware. Put videos on the internet of the safest techniques and make them available to the public. Most schools have open practices. At the end of the day all you can do is raise awareness about proper techniques. I've not seen a study that showed that injuries to the head were high occurrences for players using proper technique. Seat belts are a law and everyone knows they save lives. But you cannot enforce the law for every driver. Somethings don't have to have a definite answer.
  21. How many players have died in football compared to other sports? How about better education for coaches and players on proper tackling, blocking, etc.? Not the lip service coaching online. Actual real instruction. Have a mandatory coaching clinic, get some of the best college coaches there, etc.
  22. Sindelar would get my vote. Excellent HS quarterback.
  23. My only question is, how did people who played in only leather helmets ever survive? I want comparisons for former football players to other athletes. Not saying football doesn't cause potential life long problems, but this witch hunt is damaging to the sport, while other sports get a pass. Football is a violent game, no doubt about it. However, all of these studies have come out and so far not many, if any, football players have decided not to go into the draft for health reasons. The same people that will be suing for millions of dollars are signing up to play the game and make millions at, health risks ignored for the time being. At the high school level, I think the damage long term would be much more minimal. Slower players, slower rate of contact, etc. If a parent decides not to let their child play football or a child decides not play football for their health, then so be it. That is their right. In my brief experience, I have noticed that there are alot more long-term benefits to playing football than negative ones. This is getting ridiculous.
  24. If our school is ever good enough to win a championship, I'd like to see them try to keep the fans off the field.
