What does Scott County have? Are they big? Just really talented? Haven't followed much basketball this year but they're always good.

Love spring football. You get a chance to evaluate kids in a different way because often times the guys who will end up starting were backups the year before. Its great. As for turf, its obviously an advantage IMO.

I'm not at Raceland so I'm in no position to answer that. I'm sure there will be some.

Raceland will be fine. They have good guys on staff that are capable and they will have good applicants as well.

Are they 2A in the new format?

Depends on the situation, but usually I'd think yes.

I think as long as a coach is honest to his employer he is obligated to his family to look into situations that may better their family. At the end of the day everyone is entitled to taking a better job. Every coach has different goals and aspirations and every family has a different criteria for what would better their lives. I also think a departing coach owes at least some explanation to their players. Those are the ones who really suffer when a good HC leaves. If you're chasing your dream, moving closer to home whatever be as honest as professionally possible.

For high majors I'd guess its way lower. Football-wise at least.

This makes me feel so old. My first year coaching I met Ram when he was coaching for Nevin's JFL team. Georgetown is getting a heck of a player and a better young man. GTown is an excellent place to play football and get a great education. Congrats young man.

Its still needed in HS for sure. I like it for all levels though. If the really want change, offer teams that attempt a pass or run 3 points for a conversion. That would add excitement and really odd scoring.

As someone who has played and coached against Coach McGlone this is a sad time. Any high school coach would love to have the success that Coach McGlone has had, along with the class and dignity that he has shown. For high school coaches, he is truly what we all aspire to be, or at least I hope what we all aspire to be. He is one of the nicest individuals you'd ever care to meet, and his success in our area is second to none.

For the record I'm talking skill positions. No way a linemen should go both ways in a two platoon system. But if I have a Michael Bush he's playing offense and at least half the game of defense.

So you wouldn't play a stud both ways? I'm not talking about just the best player on your team I'm talking about a legit D-1 athlete. Them at 80% is better than most of the other kids (probably all) at 100%. A D1 DB shouldn't play a little WR?

Very few cons of the platooning system. If you have a true stud, let them play both ways. Everyone else focuses on one aspect of the game and gets coached there everyday, all day.

Trinity. I have tons of respect for that program.

We've had a coach tell us they were stealing our signals. I loved our HC and DC's response...."if that's what it takes".

Game of the week in our area. Excited to see how this one plays out because no one has any idea how these two match up.

NCF, I think Sindelar plays a little too helter skelter for the college game right now but with a year or two in a college system I think he's an absolute stud. Two plays I'll remember from the state championship game that show this kids kind of arm strength : 1. A 15-20 yard out from the opposite hash that had serious pop on it. That's a throw you simply don't allow your QB to make unless he has a riffle. 2. Rolling left (he's right handed) about the 50 yard line, he has no one open and throws it away in the back of the end zone. Off his back foot he gingerly lets one go that hits the back pylon. Just a throw away but it was impressive.

Air Raid/Franklin System if I'm not mistaken. OLine looked good at state. Don't know what they lost. The QB is a stud. Elite arm, even on the national level. Should be a high D1 prospect.

Aren't the players most important? Or just fans that hate going to the 1-4 game? At some schools, especially in the 3A and 4A big districts it can be a good goal for a struggling program. Should a struggling program realistically expect to win their district? Making the playoffs, especially in a district where all teams don't go can be a worthy goal for many programs. It's the stagnation that makes it a bad system IMO. If you are struggling use making the playoffs as a springboard. It's sad if that is always your goal. I don't think any program that is consistently a playoff team should want to only be the four seed. I love the way Fairview sets their goals. Not too long ago they didnt have a program at all. Now they always talk about the next step. If the worst thing that happens with this playoff system is that Highlands 2nd and 3rd string players get some extended game time I don't see how any of the players lose in this. In all honesty 2 teams getting in would improve the play in Kentucky, but with the increased turnover of football coaches I don't know if it would be good for the players and coaches. Continuity can stagnate a program but often times it is a good thing.

We've still got things to work on but the kids got better all weekend and played hard. :thumb:

:thumb: Thank her for me. I hope our boys behaved. I didn't do as good a job as I wanted in checking on them over there I got distracted in watching the varsity teams play. Hopefully Ill get a chance to catch up with you and Ram before our game in a few weeks.

Special thanks to Sidelinedoc for allowing our boys to use his standup tent. It was hot and our guys appreciated the shade. Thought all teams looked good. A lot of good football should be played in EKY this year. The area is improving.

Sure would be nice to have a real spring football season. I'll never understand how baseball gets spring, summer and fall to play games.
