sidelinedoc Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Now that Raceland has begun the search for a new head football coach, a)who should get it & b) who will apply for it? The coaching position is arguably a top notch job to obtain and the teaching position and associated salary should garner some looks from well groomed coaches. I am just curious of who seeks this out since it is almost March. Thoughts?
Voice of Reason Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 It will be interesting to see how this one goes. Looking at it from a distance, I would say Raceland is one of the better jobs to have in that part of the state. Is that an accurate assessment?
sidelinedoc Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 VOR, I think I am biased but I think that it is. Take that into consideration with the teaching position that pays well, we may attract some notable coaches. Time will tell.
newarkcatholicfan Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I hope they get the best coach possible and he continues in the direction the team is going.
Little Ram Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 There are some people talking about maybe four to five coaches in program that could possibly get the job. And the no one in the administration has even said a word about out of program coaches. But then again, we could always be surprised. Haha.
sidelinedoc Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 There are multiple men on the current coaching staff that are plausible hires. The question remains as to whom, if any, outside coaches apply for the job. We are almost in March and most schools have already filled spots and coaches looking to move have already made those moves. I am just curious to see how much interest this job draws.
Carlosknows1 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Where is the job posted at I do not see it on their website
RAMCAT77 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 The state of Raceland football is at an all time high and will only go higher, so I'm not sure you wanna take a chance with an assistant coach who has no previous head coaching experience. With that being said, I think you have to look outside the program first. I've heard of at least one coach with a recent state title who is interested in taking the job, obviously it's hearsay, so you take it with a grain of salt. If the rumor is true and the man is genuinely interested in the program, then you hire him. Just my opinion, and my opinions have been known to irritate others.
OLDSKOOLPLAYMAKR Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 so what else do you all know? Why is the head coach leaving? And what kind of "pay" are you all talking about?
