That's why I don't get. As a coach I'm glad we have teams like Trinity, Highlands, St. X, etc. because it gives all other programs something to strive for.

Having been at Raceland my wish is always for them to go 14-1 with a state championship win. After the first game I hope they win them all. :thumb:

Are either of them under 30? They're not old but I would have pictured both of them in the 32-33 year old range.

No amount of research will change me. I hope if I have boys they will want to play football.

Only if you compare them to FBS schools and some FCS schools. But compared to small schools, high schools coaching with a teachers salary can be just as much for assistants.

Our district doesn't pay anywhere near that. Head coaching pay is competitive with Highlands, but my pay is about 1/3 of what their assistants make.

I like option A better. I like the Hs better than the birds on there.

Good players make coaches into good coaches. At least from public perspective. Plenty of good coaches at all levels with losing records and I'm sure there are below average coaches with winning records.

Each walk of life a coach has gone through has different pluses and minuses too.

To me there is no blueprint for a successful coach. A good coach is demanding, yet fair. A good role model for their players. A hard worker. If you're looking for a HC, people skills are a plus. I would guess that guys who weren't always the most talented yet still became good players would probably make the best coaches, but at the end of the day I don't think there is a way to predict.

That young talent has a few converts from the staff I'm on. I bet Ru likes them too.

Coach McGlone and Coach Buchanan are two of the classiest coaches in the state. Russell and Mason have been extremely lucky to have those guys leading their boys on Friday nights.

I heard Guru singing it the other day.

Guru is an East Carter Raider fan at heart.

The athleticism Central possesses on an annual basis is incredible for a 3A program. Love watching them play.

Caldwell is likely the favorite for 2a aren't they? Love the way they play. So many teams get to Bowling Green and play not to lose. CC ran a trick play from their own end zone. Hope they make it back this year, they were fun to watch.

I'd love to see what this kid could do at the next level in football. I'll be honest I didn't know who he was at the state title game, and we almost skipped the 2A Final. This kid's arm is outstanding. To me he looked like a BCS conference caliber QB.

Do officials at games where there isn't a physically present game clock become lenient? Sure probably do. It's a problem but unless the state of Kentucky can pay for all schools to get some I don't see it changing.

I just hope a few of our freshmen and sophomores grow taller than 6'1 or 6'2. We've got some short kids.

It would be great to play kids one way but its just not feasible for most staffs around the state. Anytime you step on the field there is an injury risk but there is no problem in kids playing both ways. We had a kid shatter his femur playing touch football after he stepped in a hole. It was our best player too. Injuries, especially to seniors are awful but they are part of life and sports.

Mayfield was impressive in Bowling Green this past season. Jackson was a stud, but a program like that will find a way to have a chance just about any year.
