Caldwell County returns 10 starters on Defense, a Junior QB that is getting weekly visits from Neal Brown and runs a 4.7 40 yard dash, the top 3 rushers, a plethora of receivers, and most of the starting offensive line, AND the experience of playing in last year's 2A State Championship Game, plus lots of depth.

Caldwell is likely the favorite for 2a aren't they? Love the way they play. So many teams get to Bowling Green and play not to lose. CC ran a trick play from their own end zone. Hope they make it back this year, they were fun to watch.

One thing that will help them is that if they win their district, they'll have home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Teams like Murray, Owensboro Catholic, Glasgow, CAL, DeSales, Bardstown, etc. would all have to come to Princeton in the postseason.

I like what David Barnes did to his schedule in adding Christian County and Fort Campbell, keeping Mayfield on there, and adding a road game at Green County.

The Tigers did lose a lineman, whose name escapes me, that was a real difference maker but they are my pick in AA.

Was he the defensive end? That kid really played well in the final against Newport Catholic.

Webster was a beast and team leader. Caldwell likely has no one of his caliber to take his spot but the number of returners everywhere else should help absorb the loss

Webster's non-stop motor will be impossible to replace. He led by example.

 

However, the loss of receiver Tez Sivils can't be overlooked either. Sindelar really relied heavily on him in a lot of ways. Sivils knew the offense inside and out and he's no longer there for Sindelar to lean on.

 

That being said, I think Sindelar will be OK behind a strong offensive line. And Dee Cain should pick up some of the slack on offense lost with Sivils.

 

Also, I think a lot of people tend to overlook RB Jaylen Boyd. Caldwell rode him through the playoffs, and it was Boyd, not Sindelar, who was the District Player of the Year last year. Sindelar gets most of the publicity (and I completely understand why) but Boyd brings a lot of balance to an offense than ran the ball more last year than passed it.
