How much does your school pay in football salaries?

Featured Replies

I noticed in the thread about the Highlands football scoreboard that the link to the board meeting also listed pay levels for all coaches above their teaching or other admin duties.

Highlands for example pays: Head Coach $9202, 5 Asst Coaches $6567 ea, freshman coach $6567, frosh asst $4277, 4 Sixty Minute Club $1464 ea and 2 Sixty minute Club at $732 plus a team manager $1464. For a total of over $61,000 in just salaries. How does this compare to other schools?

Not picking on or at HHS it's just that their pay was readily available.

I remember years ago when my oldest played for Coach Ray at CCH. It was in June and Mark Goetz stopped by to watch practice. He said that at the time first-year assistant coaches at public schools were making more than Coach Ray did as a 30-yr head coach.

Like to see what some of the big privates and bigger publics pay as well.

Probably going to be heard to find what private schools are paying.

My first thought was "wow" on how many coaches there are.

Second thought is "what are sixty minute club?"

Perspective- the Director of Football Operations at Southlake Carroll High School in Southlake, Texas is their head football coach Hal Wasson. This is a six figure position that does not require teaching or administrative duties outside of the football program.

Everything is bigger in Texas!

:D

And it probably qualifies them for credit under the Texas Teachers Pension, if there is one.

Sixty minute club is what the off season strength and conditioning program is called and has been called for a long long time. It might have been sixty minutes at some point but it is probably a little longer now :D

I don't believe this is out of line for public school programs. In fact, I thought Highlands would be more.

The coaches can't do that?

The coaches can't do that?

I venture to say, it is the coaches doing it, but it's an additional salary - a way of paying the coaches more with not saying the coaching salary is larger.

Correct no different than some schools call a strength coordinator or something like that.

I wonder what that breaks down to per hour, minimum wage?

Exactly. That's how a school keeps a good coach. Many coaches have multiple positions: Head football Coach, Athletic Directory, Strength Coach, etc.
