The Kentucky High School Athletic Association officially extended its agreements with Russell Athletic and Western Kentucky University to partner and host the state football finals through 2018 in a press conference in Bowling Green on Tuesday. The KHSAA Board of Control previously approved an extension for WKU and Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium as the host site of the Russell Athletic/KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl, dependent at the time upon retaining Russell Athletic as the event’s title sponsor.

It is probably without a doubt the best venue in the state for this when everything is considered.

I love it. It is a long drive for me, but the venue makes up for it.

The best thing about WKU is the stadium for the fans. That's about it. Horrible locker room situations, horrible parking.

Do teams even use the locker rooms? I thought I always just see them getting dressed on the bus because the accommodations can't handle the amount of kids.

My other complaint is that WKU does not let the parents and students on the field after the game. Was this the procedure when held at Papa John?

Maybe I'm wrong but I can't ever remember fans on the field at Papa Johns.

I think from an "experience" for the players standpoint WKU is the best simply because of the stadium. I went to a few at PJ and the environment is dreadful. Way too big of a stadium.

With EKU scheduled to renovate their current facilities, projected completion date prior to the 2016 season, maybe that would become a feasible option in the near future.
