State Championships to remain at WKU through 2018

Featured Replies

With EKU scheduled to renovate their current facilities, projected completion date prior to the 2016 season, maybe that would become a feasible option in the near future.

Turf field? If so then yes.

Turf field? If so then yes.

Yes, EKU already has a turf field.

I thought I read that part of the Commonwealth Stadium renovation would be a new turf field. Is that correct? And if so wouldn't it become the logical choice to host the KHSAA championship games ever year?

WKU stadium best experience for the kids, and that's what matters. A refurbished EKU would be the best of both worlds: appropriately sized stadium AND centrally located.

Great for the teams, WKU, and the city of Bowling Green! I remember the first year WKU hosted the championship games and when I saw Allen County fill the new side of the stadium I was sold.

Excellent. Best place for the finals by far!!!!!

Selfishly, I love the indoor club level access at WKU because we go watch the entire event and it allows us a place to get in out of the weather. Some of my crew is elderly and they never even go outside, just park it on a stool by the window and enjoy the show.

There are a lot of fans who go for all 3 games each day, which puts you at the stadium from 10am or so until 9:30-10pm. That is a long long day if it is bad weather, especially if you don't have a place to go warm up.

Does the EKU renovation plans have a similar area? Papa Johns had the same thing and that was nice.

I agree. It's much better than Papa Johns, which is way too big. For the fans, there are plenty of great seats to watch the games. My brother and I go every year to watch all of the games, and Western KY is a much better atmosphere.

I like it being in BG. Drive is not horrible and gives me a chance to visit WKU and my son. Like the stadium for the smaller crowds.

I love the venue and the location. I know many Northerners hate it cause they have to driver further but we drove to UofL for enough years. I also prefer BG cause I find it easier to get around. The stadium is a perfect setup for the fans and teams. The only gripe I have is parking, of which there is little. I also find it ridiculous that the make us evacuate the club area between games even if we have tickets to the next game.

Richmond is "centrally located"???

Why isn't it at Papa John's anymore? And, would they ever consider putting it at UK?

Maybe because they tore it down.

When UL was in the Big East they couldn't promise that the dates for the title games would alwayd be available due to Big East TV contracts.

Maybe because they tore it down.

Papa John's is still there
