Our old BGP friend westsider used to say that most Kentuckians don't realize Kentucky extends beyond Elizabethtown. I think this thread is proof of that.

Lol. Agree. That's exactly what it is.

Most in, around or past I-75 consider E-town Western KY. Heck, most consider BG WKY. Little do they realize it extends another 200-250 miles from both of those places.

BG to Hickman in Fulton County is 3hr+ drive.

I would encourage teams to rent their own port-o-lets for pre game next year. Heard some stories about kids holding it in until halftime when the locker rooms finally cleared.

Took my son to Campbellville Univ. during the summer and they have a marking on campus that is marked the center of the state of Kentucky. No way that is could be held their but it is a nice little town. I like the WKU Statium and know madder were it is held, there will be somebody that always hates the drive. I like the idea of the rotation between EKU and WKU.

The locker room situation is amateurish at best and absolutely the only drawback to the facility. If the powers that be are serious about continuing to host at WKU they need to figure out a way to provide 4 distinct dressing areas with sanitary facilities. That way no one should have to wait.

HHS was still standing behind the endzone waiting when Owensboro ran onto the field to warm up. A bunch of the boys had to run up to the restrooms by the concession stands.

Random thought...

After the Fieldhouse is finished we should start working on some fully equipped mobile locker rooms. People turn old school buses into NICE "facilities" for tailgating at college and pro games. Why not a locker room.

Figure two buses. Maybe one offense, one defense.

What... 20-26 or so lockers/stations per bus depending on adding couple restrooms.

Climate controlled (as well as any bus can be)

Not enough space for the ENTIRE roster but enough to hit the ground running and then some.

Maybe add an observation/videographer deck on top.

The long drive to WKU will still stink - these wouldn't be for carrying players to/from.

At least they wouldn't need to gear up outside in the elements.

Seems like an awful drastic approach for one football game???

That's at least one game per year.

They could be used for other sports as well.

All day track meets.

Just about any sport with pool and/or multi-out bracket play tournament formats.

I bet there are a few industrious boosters that could handle it.

If I win the lottery, I'll take care of it... :thumb:

Has the overall attendance for both days been announced?

Maybe in a new thread.

There are probably quite a few stadiums across the state that could accommodate those numbers. As a matter of fact, I think Manual Stadium could and maybe Male's stadium. (Not advocating that championship games be played there; merely pointing out that the attendance is not real large.)

Where were 2,500 fans hiding that were included in the 8,418 figure? If the stadium holds 25,000 or 22,000, there still was less than 100 sitting in the upper level stands.......

LT SMITH STADIUM

BOWLING GREEN, KY

FACTS & FIGURES

-Tenant: Western Kentucky Hilltoppers

-Conference: CUSA

-Capacity: 25,000

-Surface: Fieldturf

-Opened: 1968

-Cost: Unknown

For over four decades the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers have played at LT Smith Stadium. The stadium was built in 1968 and had a seating capacity of 19,250 and named after LT Smith, the football coach at WKU from 1920-21 on October 26, 1968. Lights were added in 1987 and Astroturf was installed in 2002. In order to make the jump to Division 1 Football Bowl Subdivision the Hilltoppers expanded their stadium. WKU embarked on a $37.5 million expansion and renovation project at LT Smith Stadium in 2007. Houchens Industries donated $5 million to the expansion project that led WKU to add Houchens Industries to the name of the stadium. The renovation and expansion project included increasing the seating capacity to 25,000 by adding 5,000 seats to the west side of the stadium. Also included in this project were new locker rooms, a new $1.5 million videoboard and updating the concourses. The renovations were completed by the 2008 season.
