  1. I like Ferguson and there is always somewhere in the game for a shooter and he can definitely shoot the ball. Everyone falls in love with size and athleticism including myself at times but bottom line is you still have to put the ball in the basket. I really don't know what level he can play at but I would bet his family don't have to pay for his education. It must run in the family as I saw his sister (Shae) play over the holiday at Lexington Catholic and she appeared to be shooting and connecting from somewhere close to I-75. Best of luck to both in the future.
  2. I am hopelessly behind on my tournaments and posting Bolus' latest rankings because of all the tourneys during the holidays but should have the rankings up on http://www.kyprephoops.com next week. I believe Bolus' latest rankings are on Jody Demling's blog or elsewhere in the Courier Journal.
  3. LCA was led by 6-6 Jr. Will Evans with 17 points and 16 rebounds. 6-2 Jr. Branden Burdette and 5-10 Fr. Taylor Barnette added 11 and 10 points respectively. 6-4 Sr. Derrick Robinson led Montgomery County with 16 points and 7 rebounds. 6-3 Sr. Brandon Rash added 14 points and 8 rebounds and is an excellent defender. LCA led 40-25 at halftime but Montgomery rallied to catch up and actually outscored LCA 8-2 in the final quarter. LCA's Branden Burdette scored 6 points in the overtime period.
  4. That is what the bracket shows-Lincoln County vs. Newport Central Catholic at 9 A.M. December 23rd in Gym 2 (the old gym)
  5. Newport Central Catholic 48 Huntington WV 43 - Janie Giesler, Michelle Stoll, and Courtney Sandfoss led the victors with 14, 10, and 10 points respectively. Mariah Tabor and Sandfoss pulled down 11 and 10 rebounds respectively. Huntington was led by 6-2 Whitney bays with 24 points and 6 rebounds. NCC trailed 34-29 entering the final period but outscored the Highlanders 19-9 in the final quarter. The Thoroughbreds accomplished this victory despite shooting 25.9% from the field and 10 of 22 from the free throw line. However they connected on eight three point baskets.
  6. This was a great early season matchup and I feel privileged to have been there. Holmes actually led 67-65 in the fourth quarter before Bryan Station made their run. It is hard to beat Station when they shoot 11 of 16 from beyond the arc. Holmes brings their own unique challenges as they force you to guard them on every play and will take it to the basket hard. Holmes was 30 of 39 from the free throw stripe and Bryan Station was 19 of 23. Ricardo Johnson was very impressive with 26 points on 7 of 12 from the field including 3 of 5 from beyond the arc and 9 of 11 free throws. Pittman was only 3 of 11 from the field but 12 of 16 from the line. Ashford, Morones, and Richardson all played well for Station with Morones being 6 of 8 from beyond the arc. This game should give Bryan Station a lot of confidence and should help them this season but I don't believe the loss will hurt Holmes--they are an excellent team.
  7. Vee Sanford led LexCath with 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 steals in 17:09 of playing time. 6-0 Fr. Jaylen Beckham added 18 points and Taylor Botkin had 12 points.
  8. Richie Phares 30 points 21 rebounds, Ge-Lawn Guyn 23 points, Dakota Euton 15 points 11 rebounds, Tamron Manning 11 points, Chad Jackson 9 points 8 rebounds. (Scott County) Wesley Cox 28 points including 7 three pointers for Male. Scott County held a 56-38 margin in rebounding.
  9. Sorry Option Right I didn't see your post but it was an enjoyable entertaining game.
  10. Henry Clay defeated the visiting Paris Ladyhounds by a score of 52-47. Henry Clay led 20-16 at the end of the first quarter but Paris rallied to lead 30-28 at halftime. Henry Clay took control in the third quarter and led 43-37 at the end of the quarter. Paris pulled within three; 45-42 in the final quarter but could never close the gap. The victorious Lady Blue Devils were led by 5-11 Sr. Brittany Coles with 21 points including three three point baskets. 5-10 So. Candace Morton and 5-5 So. Kayla Price added 10 and eight points respectively. 5-8 Sr. Emily Hinkson led Paris with 27 points including three three point baskets and pulled down 13 rebounds. 5-7 So. Morgan Crain added nine points.
  11. I think early season games could be explained by "it's early" and/or our football players don't have their "basketball legs" yet. I remember in the 2003/2004 season Warren Central got beat 83-55 on December 12th by Lexington Catholic at Bellarmine University. After 15 games they were 8-7 but finished the season with a 21 game winning streak and the state championship over Mason County. That was one example I can recall where those two excuses proved to be valid. However, I agree some of the excuses you hear are quite humorous.
  12. I turned my info in on the 12th and was under the impression it would be released on the 15th. However the staff also does such an incredible job on the football side and with the playoffs being in full swing I would expect it to be out this week.
  13. If you happen to be in the Louisville area or just like quality basketball check-out this slate of games. There are some top teams and players in this pre-season event.
  14. Other top players scheduled to appear include Shontel Bates (Butler), Victoria Brown (Iroquois), Clair Buchanan (Christian Academy of Louisville), Morgan Clemons (Sacred Heart), Hannah Gerteisen (Ownsboro Catholic), Beth Gillis (Nelson County), Madison Hardy (Mercy), Kayla Hickman (Iroquois), Lindsay Highbaugh (Hart County), Emily Hinkson (Paris), Autumn Miller (Sacred Heart), Jessica Philpot (Bullitt East), Chelsey Smith (Bullitt Esat), and Bekah Towles (Highlands).

  16. The 7th Annual High Potential Hooparama Showcase will be held November 22nd at The Basketball Academy in Louisville KY. This is an excellent pre-season event and features some excellent teams and players. The schedule is as follows: 10:00 AM Bullitt East vs. Paris (JV-court 1) 10:00 AM Iroquois vs. Highlands (JV-court 2) 10:30 AM Bullitt East vs. Highlands (JV-court 1) 10:30 AM Iroquois vs. Paris (JV-court 2) 11:00 AM Bullitt East vs. Paris (Varsity-court 1) 11:00 AM Iroquois vs. Highlands (Varsity-court 2) Noon Bullitt East vs. Highlands (Varsity-court 1) Noon Iroquois vs Paris (Varsity-court 2) Noon Louisville CAL vs. Owensboro Cath. 17. Log Mountain Boy -- I believe you are correct, if I remember correctly he did not return Monday morning and the game schedule starts on Monday.
  18. This was just a portion of the list that was in the Herald Leader. The paper just reported the top few names. Some of the names mentioned were in the next grouping. The entire list will be posted over the next week or so. As far as boxscores from this camp they don't exist. If someone states individual statistics they are keeping them themselves. Rick Bolus and I agree on some rankings and disagree on others. I think sometimes he puts too much emphasis on size. It is extremely hard for independent camps to compete with the shoe giants as well as the great AAU events that are out there. Ge-Lawn came out there in 2007 but did not stay. Although he was not listed in the top 6 underclassmen he is highly regarded and in the next group. I personally don't like rankings because I have seen a player look like a worldbeater one night and have a terrible game the next. However I feel that talent will show and over the long haul the true stars will separate themselves from the pack.
  19. Patrick Cornette carried the ball 26 times for 201 yards and 3 TDs for Bryan Station.
  20. Special team play big for Johnson Central--89 yard ko return Td by JK Hall and big 85 yard interception return for TD by JJ Jude.
  21. Is East Jessamine in the 12th region? If so Clara Mitchell who has reportedly transferred to East Jessamine from Lexington Christian Academy would probably be in the mix with the other candidates already mentioned.
  22. I don't think anyone needs to throw anyone under the bus. I believe Scott County has a very talented incoming freshman from another system in their program this season. Like it has already been stated that is merely an enrollment and not a transfer.
  23. Scott County will have to be a preseason number one pick. I don't think it will be a surprise to anyone that the first thought or suggestion would be to play together as a unit. I know that is what Coach Hicks will insist on and I think the players will buy into it. There will be some who may question why a player's stats may go down but there is only one basketball and a lot of scoring options on this team. The interesting question for me will be who will be the starting point guard this season. Nobody will outwork Coach Hicks so I think any potential questions or problems will be worked out in the gym.
  24. Arrez is deserving of any and all honors. I have been following basketball for more years than I care to admit but he is one of the best "lock-down" defenders I have ever seen.
  25. It has been reported that Euton and Chad Jackson are or will be at Scott County. Add them to Phares and Guyn as well as some of the other talent at Scott County and the fact you only have one basketball. I believe the players and Coach Hicks will make it work but people being people and looking too hard at mere numbers will it affect people's opinion of these players because they may not put up astronomical numbers? I would hope not as this could be a very special team.
