  1. I like the idea of a MOP (most outstanding player ) and a MVP (most valuable player). I definitely could see Ms. Terry as MOP without a doubt. I also believe that could have been the case in the All A Classic with Angela Roof (St. Mary) as the MOP and Kenzie Rich (Monroe Co. ) as the MVP. Just a thought.
  2. It is my understanding that once an injury like this is diagnosed by a doctor that the doctor must give a release for the player to return to action. It is also my understanding that with the brace that they wear that there can be no further injury to the already fully torn ACL. However if additional swelling occurs and cannot be reduced the player can no longer play. I don't believe that Ms. Stevenson played the final two games. However I am by no means a doctor just repeating what I have heard. Would I choose to play as a player, let my child play, or as a coach let my player play? I don't know, I have never been in that position. I really don't think the coaching staff or parents would have let her play if there was a great risk. She has a promising future and let's not forget the most important thing wishing her a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. It seems like there is an epidemic of ACL tears over the last few seasons.
  3. Shelvin Mack is listed as 6-2 in the program and he is a soph. point guard.
  4. LexCath was led by 6-5 Soph Center Nathan Novosel with 22 points 15 rebounds, and 5 blocked shots. John Meyer and Cameron Conner led Franklin County with 15 and 12 points respectively. Franklin County 18 13 8 14 -- 53 Lexington Cath. 13 19 17 18 -- 67
  5. Madison Central was led by Duane Fields with 19 points. Aaron Morris added 17 points and 14 rebounds. Bryan Station was led by Shelvin Mack with 29 points and 12 rebounds. Stefan Lewis added 7 points and 16 rebounds. Bryan Station 13 11 17 20 -- 61 Madison Cen. 17 13 12 24 -- 66 (Stats provided by WL Stats)
  6. No, the semifinals will be held on Friday night at Frankfort. I'm not sure of the brackets but the teams remaining are Woodford County, Madison Central, Scott County, and Lexington Catholic.
  7. Finals Lexington Catholic 67 Franklin County 53 Madison Central 66 Bryan Station 61
  8. There were some very interesting statistics in this game. Scott County shot 58% from the field compared to 35.1% for Henry Clay. Scott County was 19 of 35 from the free throw line while Henry Clay was 14 of 25. Henry Clay actually attempted 27 more shots (77-50) from the field than the Cardinals because they held a 52-33 margin in rebounding including a 33-11 edge on the offensive boards. Matt Walls led Scott County with 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists. Bud Mackey and Rodney Haddix added 19 points respectively. Cam Hundley played a key role off the bench with 9 points and 6 rebounds. Aaron Dunaway led Henry Clay with 28 points and 12 rebounds. Aaron Miller added 13 rebounds and 6 rebounds while Aaron Boyd chipped in with 10 points and 15 rebounds. Victor Moses recorded 8 points and 10 rebounds. (Statistics provided by WL Stats) Someone mentioned in this thread about Dunaway's last game. The "warrior" has left the building as he has played his last game as a Blue Devil. He scored 28 points on 11 of 20 from the field including 2of 7 from beyond the arc and 4 of 7 from the free throw line and pulled down 12 rebounds. This caps a great high school career. Also lets not forget about another Henry Clay senior Aaron Miller who left it all on the floor every night and attempted to battle through cramps late in the game last night to finish a fine career. It was a great win for Scott County as they came to play and battled hard throughout the game. Congratulations to both teams and good luck to Scott County down the road.
  9. Nice analysis Jim Schue. Keenan Ellis was the one who gave SL fits in the first quarter with his size. He scored 8 early points and got his third foul with 8.4 seconds remaining in the first quarter. Walker did not score until the second half. Ellis also added 6 rebounds and 4 blocked shots for the game.

  11. Mr. Basketball candidates will always be discussed, argued about and the discussion is usually quite valid. This year is quite difficult because there are several legitimate candidates. I have seen most of the so-called frontrunners play and it is a close call. I really don't take any consideration into who is being recruited by who because this is a high school award. Walt Allen has had a good career and was MVP at the state tourney last year. A.J. Slaughter is as advertised and can play the game. Josh Mack is an excellent point guard who has been on center stage at both the All "A" Classic and the state tourney. Robert Buckner is the real deal and has finally got some well deserved publicity. Lets not forget Aaron Dunaway as he has rolled up over 2000 career points. Dunaway played two years at Frankfort and the last two years at Henry Clay. Dunaway has always shared the ball because like Allen he has always played with other capable scorers. Dunaway has averaged in the 18-19 ppg range his entire career. He is over 19 ppg per game this year after a slow start after five games. He rarely gets a night off playing in the very tough 11th region. It all comes down to the voting, I believe Walt Allen will carry the Eastern Ky. vote where the rest of the state will be split among several candidates. Will this be enough to ensure a win? Who knows at this stage as there is a lot of basketball to be played. There are aso other candidates who will pick up support. One thing for sure and I honestly believe this, this group has a bunch of fine young men as well as good basketball players. Good luck to all of them.
  12. Aaron Dunaway went over the 2000 career varsity points mark in the championship game win last week over Madison Southern at the Berea Invitational tournament . Dunaway has now scored 2003 points in his varsity career. He was named MVP of this tourney and named to the all tourney team as Henry Clay captured the tourney title.
