  1. goldenrule19 -- The complete list was not put in Fields article. Ge'lawn was in the additional players listed and a valid argument could be made to rank him higher for the upcoming season. Rankings are merely opinions and I expect to see a lot of players moving up or down in several peoples rankings before the start of the season.
  2. This is a win-win situation for both Coach Butcher and Mason County. Coach Butcher will do an excellent job at Mason County.
  3. Several of the players on this list have never attended Bolus' camp. Ethan Faulkner has been on his lists before so that was a typo. Bolus does not have any of his rankings on his website as his website is just a camp website. kyprephoops has not updated the rankings of Bolus to show the latest rankings. This website covers boys and girls basketball as well as AAU and is running about 2-3 weeks behind and adds Bolus rankings as time permits. There are also several other players on the complete list that in my opinion could probably have been ranked higher.

  9. The "cardiac kids" are at it again. After defeating Montgomery County Saturday 51-50 in an overtime squeaker the Lady Bulldogs captured another overtime thriller last night over Henry Clay. Henry Clay's Brittany Coles hit a free throw with one second left in regulation to knot the score at 43-43 and force overtime. Coles gave the Lady Blue Devils a 47-45 lead late in the overtime period but Dunbar's Chelsey Johnson nailed a three point basket with less than 30 seconds remaining to give Dunbar a 48-47 lead. Henry Clay had a good look at the basket in the final second but missed the shot and Dunbar comes away with the victory. Chantelle Pressley and Chelsey Johnson led the victors with 14 and 13 points respectively. Hanna Blankenship, Raven Price, and Gwen Rucker led Henry Clay with 13, 12, and 10 points respectively. I also had Rucker with 12 rebounds. Henry Clay 10 15 2 16 4 --47 Dunbar 7 14 13 9 5 --48
  10. This is a very well thought out thread with a lot of useful and heartfelt responses. I attend and cover a lot of both girls and boys game on my website. Most of the time I follow the game and keep points as well as rebounds for key players as well as check my points against the official book at the end of the game. However this just paints part of the pictures and I am overjoyed when the teams use the computer stats program. Several years ago Sarah Shell played for LexCath and I always teased her about the "Sarah Shell stats line" which for example would be 12 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 blocked shots, and 7 steals. In other words a complete game and a well rounded performance. We are all obsessed with scoring because often that is the only stat we see. Another term that is misused is "athleticism" and while it is a great asset often players who possess it still doesn't realize that fundamentals and putting the ball in the basket still wins the games. You really can't blame the players as all that we see on the highlight shows are the spectacular plays.
  11. Paul Dunbar visited Lexington Catholic and handed the hosts a 44-36 defeat. Dunbar held a 41-22 lead after three quarters. 6-0 So. Ebony Rowe did a great defensive job on Natalie Novosel holding her to 11 points only three in the first three quarters. Dunbar held a commanding 42-22 advantage on the boards. 6-0 Sr. Chantelle Pressley led the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points and 10 rebounds while Rowe added 10 points and 13 rebounds. Cameron Howard and Pilar Walker each pulled down 7 rebounds. LexCath was led by Briana Green and Natalie Novosel with 13 and 11 points respectively. LexCath only shot 24.5% from the field including ine of 16 from beyond the arc.
  12. UHA outscored Tates Creek 29-16 in the final quarter to earn the victory. Scotty Hopson led the victors with 32 points. Ty Edmondson and Marcus Reeves added 16 and 13 points respectively. 6-3 Fr. Marcus Barksdale came off the bench to lead Tates Creek with 18 points. Michael Spalding added 13 points.
  13. I was a little surprised but both WL Stats who does the Bryan Station computer stats and the Mason County stats crew both had him with 5 offensive rebounds and 12 defensive rebounds for a total of 17.
  14. Henry Clay held on down the stretch to defeat the visiting Elizabethtown Lady Panthers. E-town led 17-12 after the first quarter but Henry Clay rallied to lead 31-25 at halftime. Henry Clay took a 47-36 lead in the third quarter but E-town cut it to 47-43 at the end of the third quarter. Henry Clay led 59-50 in the final period but E-town narrowed the deficit to 64-62 and an E-town three point field goal attempt missed in the closing seconds. 6-2 Sr. Gwen Rucker, a Louisville signee led Henry Clay with 21 points and 17 rebounds. 5-11 Jr. Brittany Coles and 5-5 Sr. Raven Price added 14 and 12 points respectively. 6-0 Jr. Alex Jones despite early foul problems led E-town with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Jones was 12 of 14 from the free throw line. 5-5 Fr. Natalie Greenwell added 17 points and 5-8 Sr. Jenna Goblirsch chipped in with 11 points.
