  1. Ballard Ian Chiles 21 points 11 rebounds, Tyrell Means 14 points, Devante Parker 11 points, Keisten Jones 12 points. Scott County Ge-Lawn Guyn 22 points, Chad Jackson 20 points 8 rebounds 7 steals, Dakotah Euton 14 points 10 rebounds, Tamron Manning 11 points, Austin Flannery 10 points. Info from Scott County live webcast.
  2. I saw Prewitt play several games this summer on the AAU circuit with The 'Ville which was absolutely loaded with talent including James Quick and Hicks (Shelby County) so there were just a limited amount of shots to go around with all that talent. Omar played well all summer and I thought he would develop into a good player but congratulations to him as he has absolutely exploded out of the gate. It just shows what happens when a talented player gets the opportunities. I want to find that roster and try to keep up with all the players that were on the team. Once again congratulations to Omar.
  3. Yes, Phillip Barner is playing for Bryan Station, started and had four points and seven rebounds against Ballard
  4. Lexington Catholic held a 34-24 lead at halftime but Lincoln County outscored LexCath 15-4 in the third quarter to take a 39-38 lead entering the fourth quarter. The Lady Patriots held on for a nice road victory.
  5. Also, a little brag on 5-10 Jr. Alex McKenzie, although she is a bit small to battle with the big girls she still gets the job done. She had 12 points and several rebounds. Scott County on any given night can be extremely tough when Madisen Webb, Kristen Stainback, and Alex McKenzie are clicking on all cylinders. The 11th Region should be very interesting this year with Scott County, Franklin County, and Madison Central all having excellent chances to break the Lexington schools' stranglehold on the 11th region title.
  6. Jesse James - I totally agree with you, although I have seen Stainback shoot better than she did tonight she scored 19 of her 25 points in the second half when the game was on the line. She has the perfect scorer's mentality she understands that if she misses 3 or 4 shots in the row to keep taking the good shots that she is very capable of connecting on several in a row.
  7. The stats showed Tates Creek had a rebound margin of 44-15 and an amazing 21-1 advantage in second effort points.
  8. Neither team shot well from the field tonight from the field (33.3% for Ballard and 31.6% for Bryan Station) but Ballard scored 27 points off 34 Bryan Station turnovers.
  9. Scott County defeated Paul Dunbar by a score of 68-63 tonight at Paul Dunbar High School. Dunbar led 54-51 in the final quarter but Scott County went on a 11-0 run to take a 62-54 lead and survived a late Dunbar rally to earn the win. Kristen Stainback led the victors with 25 points including 11 points in the decisive fourth quarter. Madisen Webb and Alex McKenzie added 12 points each. Christin Haney led Dunbar with 22 points. Ebony Rowe added 19 points and pulled down 26 rebounds.
  10. Scribe or any other moderator could you fix the fact that China Dow (freshman) is at Christian Academy of Louisville instead of at Manual, another mistake in proof reading. KYPREMIER I agree, Kyvin is one among several in the different classes I could and should have included.
  11. Gold Sunrise - You are correct, it was supposed to be Rogers from Clark County, it was a case of me missing it in proofreading. Since you are a moderator could you override it and change it to Clark County and change the spelling of the first name to Cory if the Corey is incorrect. Thanks !!!!

  13. This could as usual be a special year in the Louisville area. Bullitt East will contend in the 6th but will face stiff competion in Butler and Fairdale. The 7th region is the original"Death Valley" with 2-3 of the best teams in the state not making it to the big show. I am especially looking forward to the tournament at Lexington Catholic this year as all 10 of the teams in this scrimmage are scheduled to appear.
  14. DerbyCity if you are talking about the 6th and 7th region schools which I assume you are from your screen name they all looked good. Bullitt East played well and are very solid with Kayla Thacker, Jade Troutman, Jessica Philpott, Shelby Romine, etc. They were missing 6-2 Jr. center Lindey Young who was ill. Lindey gives them a presence in the middle. Assumption is solid with Molly Ernst, Sara Minogue, Maggie Hartlage, etc. I wish Lexi Krall would have returned to the hardwood for her senior year. Lexi is around 6-1 and left the program 2-3 years ago to focus on volleyball. Coach Ferch will have a solid team. DuPont Manual is absolutely loaded and if they play under control will be extremely hard to beat. They are still very young with only one senior and add 6-1 Fr. Kayla Styles who could be a special player. Christian Academy of Louisville - They return Antonita Slaughter, Allison Karst, and Anna Hart which is a lot of talent and add a talented freshman class including 5-8 China Dow who is destined for stardom. Coach Rice will have them playing solid defense and this team will be difficult to beat. Sacred heart Academy - This team is extremely solid and got excellent frontline play from Jackie Hafele, Annamarie Campbell, and Morgan Clemons. They played well today despite the absence of their backcourt Maddie Peabody and the early injury to Autumn Miller. Mercy - The Jaguars have an excellent guard rotation in Malisa Cruz, Emily Goetz, Ellen Sholtes, and Juliann Miller. 5-10 So. Christine Roush and 5-11 So. Courtney Roush also played well today. The press is relentless and they looked great today despite the absence of one of the best guards in the state Therese Montano who was out with an injury.
  15. This was an interesting day of pre-season basketball with a lot of talent on display today. The statistics noted above are not official but recorded by me personally to just give an idea of the flow of the game. The coaches did an excellent job of working on actual game situations and experimenting with various player rotations. It looks like another interesting year of girls' basketball in the state.
  16. Mercy 84 Nelson County 50 - Mercy took the first half by a score of 53-17 with their press giving Nelson County problems. Mercy played zone most of the second half and Nelson County won that half 33-31. 5-11 So. Courtney Roush led Mercy with 19 points. 5-8 Sr. Ellen Sholtes added 15 points. 5-8 Jr. Juliann Miller, 5-10 So. Christine Roush, and 5-8 Jr. Emily Goetz also reached double figures with 11, 10, and 10 points respectively. Fr. A.J. Lewis led Nelson County with 13 points. Nelson County's Samantha Drake did not play tonight (recovering from an illness) and Therese Montano (Mercy) set out tonight with an injury.
  17. Sacred Heart 72 North Hardin 44 - Sacred Heart won the first half 38-22 and the second half 34-22. 5-10 Jr. Morgan Clemons led SHA with 17 points and 18 rebounds. 5-11 Sr. Jackie Hafele added 14 points and 10 rebounds. 5-9 Sr. Mary Gordon Stough and 5-11 Jr. Annamarie Campbell added 11 and 10 points respectively. Autumn Miller went down with a knee injury early in the game and did not return. The injury was not believed to be serious and hopefully Miss Miller can return soon. Sr. Jennifer Smiley led North Hardin with 15 points.
  18. Christian Academy of Louisville 77 Owensboro Catholic 46 - This score was a bit misleading as the coaches elected to play four quarters instead of two halves. The third quarter basically consisted of the young players playing the entire quarter and CAL won that quarter 28-2. The sum of the other three quarters showed CAL holding a 49-44 margin. 5-10 Sr. Allison Karst, 6-2 Sr. Antonita Slaughter, and 5-8 Fr. China Dow led CAL with 17, 13, and 11 points respectively. 5-11 Fr. Becca Greenwell led Owensboro Catholic with 24 points. 5-11 So. Mary Kate Clemens added 11 points.
  19. Manual 81 Clay County 68 - Manual won the first half 37-28 and the second half 44-40. 5-10 Jr. Mechael Guess led Manual with 19 points. 6-1 Fr. Kayla Styles, 5-10 So. Kara Wright, and 6-2 Sr. Zhakiyah Martin added 17, 14, and 10 points respectively. 5-5 So. Alisha Mitchell led Clay County with 22 points. 5-7 Jr. Kayla Smith and 5-9 Sr. Danielle Fox added 15 and 13 points respectively.
  20. Bullitt East 68 Assumption 56 - Bullitt East won the first half 35-23 and the second half was a 33-33 tie. 5-11 Sr. Kayla Thacker led the victors with 23 points and 12 rebounds. 5-9 Sr. Jade Troutman added 17 points including three three point baskets. 5-10 Sr. Shelby Romine added eight points and 13 rebounds. 6-0 Sr. Molly Ernst and 5-9 Jr. Maggie Hartlage led Assumption with 13 and 12 points respectively.
  21. This should be an excellent day of pre-season basketball. Several of the top teams and players in the state will be there and these teams are very competitive and should be rounding into shape to start the season.
  22. .... final Saturday contest both coaches agreed on and added 10 additional minutes of running clock to allow some of the players on their deep bench to get some minutes. I will just give the score for the "regular" portion although they played evenly in the extra stanza and did not effect the outcome, classy move by both coaches. Scott County 72 Madison Central 66 - This was like a mid season game with both teams playing well and displaying a lot of offense. Scott County was led by Madisen Webb with 26 points. Kristen Stainback added 23 points including four three point baskets. Erika Parks and Larryn Brooks led Madison Central with 15 points each. Parks had four three point baskets. Jenna Cornelison added 12 points. This was a fun event and very well run. It was after all a scrimmage with several girls missing for various reasons and the coaches were using it as an instructional tool to experiment with strategy and player rotations with for the most part the final score being an afterthought. I enjoy attending each season because it gives me the opportunity to see several teams in one location over a two day period of time.
  23. ....more Saturday results Hart County 30 South Oldham 29 - Lexee Wilson led Hart County with 17 points. Jasmine Whitfield and Jordan McGuffin led South Oldham with 10 and eight points respectively. South Oldham won the first half 18-9 but lost the second half 21-11. Ballard 40 Owen County 23 - Nicole Heitz and Angelica Newby led a balanced Ballard attack with eight points each. Rianna Gayheart led Owen County with 15 points. Newport Central Catholic 51 South Laurel 27 - Brittany Fryer and Courtney Sandfoss led NCC with 11 and 10 points respectively. Morgan Johnson led South Laurel with 10 points.
  24. Saturday results Beechwood 42 Berea 15 - Elly Ogle and Jessica Schilling (8th graders) led Beechwood with 16 and 11 points respectively. Rachel Wilder led Berea with seven points. Southwestern 45 Carroll County 41 _ Danay Fothergill led Southwestern with 21 points. 7th grader Addison Corder added 15 points on five three point baskets. Hannah Devine led Carroll County with 19 points. Casey County 34 Simon Kenton 21 - Megan Pittman led Casey County with 14 points. Sydni Wainscott led Simon Kenton with seven points. Scott High 53 Knox Central 31 - Lauren Tibbs led Scott with 22 points. Kayla Shelton led Knox Central with 13 points. I spent most of my day correcting numbers in my program as most of the teams were playing in their practice jerseys.
  25. Friday night results, scores are combined halves from the scoreboards and stats are unofficial by my count. Dunbar 71 Holmes 33 - Dunbar was led by Ebony Rowe with 31 points. Bessea Hughes led Holmes with 14 points. Shelby County 55 Cooper 17 - Dee Dee Davis and Marissa Raisor led Shelby County with 19 and 16 points respectively. Adrienne Sandlin led Cooper with eight points. Sayre 40 Cooper 38 - Anne MacNeil and Maddie Mitchell led Sayre with 14 points each. Katlyn Sams and Rachel King led Cooper with nine and eight points respectively. Harrison County 41 Williamstown 28 - Sherese Doram led Harrison County with 12 points. Chelsea West led Williamstown with seven points. Tori Wilhoit went down early with a knee injury and will have it checked out Monday, hope everything checks out well.
