10 Good
  1. Henry Clay defeats Madison Central in the Wierwille Shootout on Saturday. Brandon Wilder led Henry Clay with 26 points. Marquell Johnson, Daniel Keisling, Trey Stewart, Kendrick Prewitt, each added 7-8 points for some balanced scoring. Henry Clay now 1-1 and plays Bryan Station on Tuesday.
  2. I think LC by double digits. MC will have trouble getting the ball up against the press. If they can, then they have a chance with their good shooters.
  3. Good comeback by Henry Clay. Down 18 in the 3rd. Prince Stewart out for the game. For Henry Clay - Senior TJ Barnes lead the way with 18. Freshman Wes Kimball had 11 and Sophomore Brandon Wilder had 15, all in the 2nd half. Botkin was the star of the game. He was fantastic for LexCath and ended with over 20. Hit cruicial free throws down the stretch.
  4. Congratulations to Henry Clay. A very good win for a relatively young team. Prince Stewart had 32 points. Brandon Nichols, TJ Barnes, and Brandon Wilder all added 12 points each. Now onto Scott County Thursday
  5. By the way, I forgot to mention a very classy thing by Coach Brown and Coach Kelly. The Linton kid, a senior, sat out all season with a medical condition. Tonight was senior night, and he got to start. The coaches had agreed in advance to let him have the ball on the opening tip and score a basket. Then they let Henry Clay score an uncontested basket in return. Lafayette immediately called a timeout and took Linton out. That was one of the finest examples of class and sportsmanship by two high school coaches that I have seen lately. Really nice, considering the bad stories we hear about so much.
  6. Good win for Henry Clay tonight. I believe they are on a 4 game winning streak. Prince Stewart had 31 points.
  7. Henry Clay has now won their last 4 games, including another top 10 team in Dunbar last week. They are a young team, that is really starting to come together the last few weeks. They lost 3-4 late-game heartbreakers early in the season. Now they are beginning to finish. HC has also been hampered by some key injuries. Senior Bradley Tilford (their tallest player) has been out lately, along with Brandon Nichols (soph). Brandon Wilder(soph) who was starting early, had an ankle sprain in mid-December and was out 2-3 weeks. He is just now beginning to get back into game form. A freshman point guard (Wes Kimball) is starting to get a lot of playing time for Henry Clay. Keep an eye on this kid, he is something fun to watch. Should be fun at Henry Clay on Friday nite against Mason.
  8. Henry Clay bounces back nicely after the Shelby Valley loss last night. Prince Stewart had about 20 points. Marquel Johnson, TJ Barnes, and Brandon Wilder all had double digits for Henry Clay.
  9. Robbie Stenzel is a very good player. I hope he gets back soon. Not only a scorer, but smart on the court and makes everyone else better. They will be very good by the end of season, and a force to reckon with the next 2-3 years.
  10. Henry Clay lead until mid-way of the 4th. Then Bryan Station got up by 9 with about 2 minutes to go. Then HC had a run to cut it to 2-3 points with about 20 seconds to go. Was a fun game, with a good crowd for both teams. Only negative was a fight in the crowd in the 2nd half. Bryan Station is definitely a top 10 team in the state IMO. Much better than I expected considering what they lost. At times you could tell they missed Mack's steady hand. Henry Clay is very young, but are playing an exciting form of ball this year. They will surprise some teams (already have beaten #8 Christian County Saturday). By end of the season, they will be dangerous. And should be very strong next season. What a district with Scott County, Henry Clay and Bryan Station. Then you have Dunbar, LexCath, Tates Creek, and even a good LCA team. Lexington is definitely staying strong basketball wise. Henry Clay Stats ================ Prince Stewart (Senior) 21 Marquel Johnson (Junior) 17 Brandon Wilder (Soph) 13 (+ 6 rebounds) Daniel Keisling (Soph) 7 Trey Stewart (Soph) 2 TJ Barnes (Senior) 4 Bradley Tilford (Senior) 2
  11. Henry Clay posts a nice upset over #8 Christian County.
  12. Played a 6 quarter scrimmage. Henry Clay lead throughout the game by about 10-12 points. Only 1 returning starter. Young team this year, but look to have a lot of potential.
  13. In a close defensive battle. Henry Clay starting 4 new players this year.
  14. I think Henry Clay is playing in it. They have the last 2 years.
  15. I agree they are young, but I think they may surprise some teams. Their young players are pretty good, although they don't have a lot of height.
