gold sunrise Posted July 23, 2009 Author Posted July 23, 2009 A few notes from Demlings blog on yesterdays games and players: http://www.courier-journal.com/blogs/demling/blog.html With Bloomington South playing in an event here in Las Vegas this week, the Indiana Elite One team is without Spencer Turner and Dee Davis. So the team picked up Tates Creek guard Ryan Fucci and he had a great showing in the first game. Fucci scored 10 points and had a number of assists and steals. He had been playing with the Kentucky Ice. The Derek Smith All-Stars 16s opponent - BCA - didn't show up until right at game time and maybe they should have stayed home. The Derek Smith team rolled to a near 50-point victory with Warren Central's George Fant and Clark County's Robbie Stenzel playing a huge role in the blowout. Fant as a man inside, while Stenzel hit three three-pointers and made several nice moves to the basket. There were 21 coaches, including North Carolina A&T coach Jerry Eaves and assistants from Western Kentucky, Wright State, Alabama and Ohio U., at the game watching the Derek Smith kids. Mason County junior-to-be Treg Setty gets my early pick for Most Improved Player in the state of Kentucky. Wow, he's really maturing and growing into a nice player. Setty is playing for the Nashville Celtics 16s and played with a broken right hand and is just coming off a broken jaw, but he was still impressive. He said he has a number of schools showing interest, including Xavier, Oregon State and Oklahoma State.

Many guard are too focused on "their" points and don't look to the other teammates or inside to the big men. I am sure the college coaches are taking notice of his all round #'s. Indiana Elite-Team Indiana won again this afternoon. I have not gotten any stats on these players yet. They are now 2-0 in pool play. Utah Pump-N-Run Red 57 Indiana Elite/Team Indiana 16s 68
Perfect Practice Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Glad to hear that DSAS is doing so well. I hope the all the kids from Indy Elite are doing well also, but especially the player from KY. How is Zollo doing? How about Abell? Fant? Knipp?

I dont know how they afford it (none of my business, just curiously wondering, not expecting an answer).

How is Zollo doing? How about Abell? Fant? Knipp? Zollo plays for Indy Elite and he is doing good. Lots of talent and size on his team. 2 kids that are 7" + and guards Dee and Jeremiah Davis. Dee has already committed to Xavier and UK is looking at Jeremiah. On the others, I know that Fant had a good game yesterday along with Stenzel. I haven't heard anything on Abell or Knipp. Boy, this kid moves around like a hot potato. I don't know how they afford it (none of my business, just curiously wondering, not expecting an answer). Which player are you talking about?
gold sunrise Posted July 24, 2009 Author Posted July 24, 2009 Updates from yesterday: http://www.courier-journal.com/blogs/demling/blog.html Clark County's Vinny Zollo also had a solid effort, scoring 10 points and running the floor like he has to in order to be really effective. A huge game from Shelby Valley point guard Elisha Justice, who proved he can play with the best competition. Justice did a little bit of everything, hitting the three-ball, driving, dishing and playing defense. And it couldn't have come at a better time with more than 40 coaches watching the game. Scott County's Ge'lawn Guyn has turned in two solid games - 40 points and 10 asssts total - in the past two wins for the Indiana Elite-Fox program. The Derek Smith 16s won their pool, the Derek Smith 15s are 2-0, the Derek Smith 17s West finished second in the pool and the Derek Smith 17s East finished fourth in its pool.

I see where the DSAA West lost a tough one (1pt) to come in second in their pool. They blew out the other two teams. Anyone have details on the games of the DSAA west games?
4pointplay Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Saw in Demlings blog that Marcellus Barksdale was also playing for an Indy Elite team out in Vegas. Does not appear to be same team as high school teammate Ryan Fucci.

gametime Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 No, it is not the same team. Barksdale plays on the same team with Zollo. It is called Ind. Elite- Team Ind. It's not like there are 275 Indy Elite teams and keeping track can be confusing...
