At the time it was true, but it was pretty clear even when they said it, they all felt he could play at a school bigger than UNCC. Like a lot of kids as the pressure starts to build to make a choice they make a hasty choice and then as time goes on realize it wasn't the right one. So yes, just part of the gig...

Good job Wireman, I tend to be a bit skeptical of the early announcements on school choices because for some reason or the other it usually changes. It is a very important decision when you consider it is four years of your life. I covered a Nike camp a few years ago when it was on the UK campus and one of the top players in the country at that time would give each reporter or internet service a different list of schools that was at the top of his list.

You misread my post. I have no doubt GT heard what he heard. However, IMO some folks will tell folks like GT less than the actual truth occasionally. I believe your source was close to the sitch and either giving you his gut feel or what the family was really saying behind closed doors.
