Hard Work

In this state, there are two major categories, teams that play football, and teams that eat, sleep, breathe, and live football. Highlands is one of those programs that live football! I thought the Dixie game would be much closer last week and it was early with Woodford pulling away late. Athletically Woodford has amazing athletes, but that only gets you so far when you are playing a team that plays high-caliber football. I think we find out two things this week Is Woodford a true contender for a state championship? How can Highlands handle speed and athleticism? I think this will be a close game early and the Bluebirds hit another gear after the half. I am unsure if the Jackets can withstand 4 quarters of physical football. If Woodford can find a way to pull out this win they would be my sleeper pick to win this year.

Coach Chandler has this Hazard team breathing new life. Williamsburg has only one loss in Week 2 to Clay County. I do believe this is going to be a battle. I think this is the most important game in the Class A playoffs. This game will determine a lot of next-round matchups including if Williamsburg travels to Sayre or do we see a regional matchup of Sayre vs Pikeville if Hazard can find a way to win. I like Hazard in this one but I do believe this will be a potential Overtime contest.

The Spartans are loaded. I have seen both teams play and I think this is a remake of last year's game. Pennington is by far the best QB in the state and the weapons around him will be too much for the Hounds. I do believe Paris will get on the board but it won't be much. Sayre is on a roll!

I think this Bracken team is dangerous and could make it to the regional round! Tarter is a different type of back! I’ll take the Polar Bears!

I am going to roll with the Dragons. Definitely an improved team! I see them loading the box and giving Spencer some issues on the offensive side of the ball! I see this one being a defensive battle!

Taking nothing away from Woodford because I think they have an extremely talented team, but Dixie has played the gauntlet. Outside of Simon Kenton , Boone, Scott, and Hughes (OH) Beechwood- 9-1 (#3 in 2A based on RPI) Cov Cath- 8-2 (#7 in 4A based on RPI) Highlands- 8-2 (#7 in 5A based on RPI) Conner- 7-3 (#9 in 5A based on RPI) Cooper- 10-0 (#1 in 5A based on RPI) Ryle- 8-2 (#2 in 6A based on RPI) NKY is not for the weak this year.. I could completely understand and believe that DH is coming into this contest with confidence and battle tested. Any of those teams could very well be title contenders in their perspective classes. Speed kills and these jackets are loaded with talent! I’m taking Woodford in overtime! I cannot wait to see how this one plays out!

This is by far the 1A game of the week! RPI currently could give the Spartans a very hard playoff road if they come up short in this one! I think the Spartans find a way to survive but this will be their biggest test yet! Pennington to Coffman late in the game for a Sayre win!

Both teams coming off physical weeks I think Hazard comes back to regain some momentum going into the playoffs. This last week should make 1A very interesting!

GRC will be no match for this Flyers program! Flyers will out muscle yet another opponent!

This is going to be an absolute battle. Not sure how well the Jackets come back and overcome the jet lag but I think the athleticism they have gives them the edge! Pulaski will be prepared and ready to go for sure! WC- 28 PC - 24
