Newport vs. Cooper Predictions/Updates (9th Region Championship)
I think this is why some people still think the tournament should be in the high schools. You don't pay to park, you aren't paying $5 for a soda or popcorn. No "fees" on tickets. NKU is a great arena and is much more comfortable for everyone, but you are paying stadium prices there.

Dropping out of district play
There needs to be more that factors into classifying teams than boys in school. The above example of Grant County is a good start. “good old days” don’t exist anymore. Times are different. Every class has 5ish teams that are actually in the running for a state title.

9th Region Tournament Draw
Was having a talk with a friend of mine the other day about this and he made the comment of just how expensive it is to take a family to a regional tournament game. He made a good point. It’s like going to the movies. The tickets are reasonable, but after that it’s not. No one wants to pay concert and college game prices for concessions and parking. The ninth region has had more success in the state tourney since moving the tournament to NKU, but I’ve found the atmosphere to be pretty weak. Some of the games there just seem lifeless.

15th Region "Super Regional Tournament"
I seen where part of the bracket is posted. Anyone with ties to the 15th Region have any idea what is going on/how this is going to work?

2025-2026 Football Realignment
On paper? No. But the closest school in 2aD5 to a school in 2AD6 is at minimum a 2.5 hour bus ride.

Adam Kozerski is head football coach at Bishop Brossart.
Drastically different demeanors.

Whatever happened to...Teams
I'm almost tempted to say Cincinnati post-Huggins. From 91-05 they were Cincinnati's team (more so than either of the professional teams) and were nationally known and respected. The level of talent that came thru UC during that era hasn't been matched since. They had a couple good teams under Cronin, but nothing close to what Huggins had. I like Miller and think he may be able to make them a tourney team again, hopefully consistently, but I'm not sure the ceiling is going to be much higher than that. People will mention the Big 12, but I am of the belief that the basketball program is not the reason they are in that league.

Open Job: Boone County
I’ve always liked the idea of the principal and athletic director having other faculty members and/or other coaches on a committee. I’ve never understood why current parents are on them. I just find it hard to believe it is all common interests.

A's new Stadium means no more Tropicana
I'd say Vegas is one place where the term "historical landmark" doesn't mean anything. If the new place can make more money, it's coming down.

Mason County Basketball Soap Opera
If they were to physically change addresses, does that change things?

Open Job: Estill County
He retires from Central this year and is going to be on the coaching staff at Sayre.

Open Job: Estill County
Poynter would be a great choice. But he is retiring from Madison Central and going to coach at a private school on staff.

Scott Hires Justin Franklin as new Head Coach
I’m not attempting to call them a powerhouse. It just looked in the open job thread like the AD was inept and ignorant. This solid hire proves that he was patient and deserves more credit than he was given.

Scott Hires Justin Franklin as new Head Coach
A lot of posts in the open job thread need edited. Or crow eaten, this is a good, solid hire. Casey Fisk knows what he is doing.

NKY Coaching Carousel
Years ago when I was talking with a NKY high school athletic director they made the comment to me that they day he hated the most was when his school hosted the NKYFL games. His stadium had a grass field and said it wasn't about the tearing up of the grass it was that the fans "tear up everything else." I found that very interesting.

NKY Coaching Carousel
As someone who has attended high school football games all of my life I can tell you I cringe when I see a bunch of dads standing on a fence line on Friday night. It varies from place to place, but it is rarely positive coming from that area. And without fail, the loudest of them all usually has the biggest tumbler in his hand.

KHSAA meeting: Running clock change
Make it 32. And also, at 50 end the game. Let everyone go home.
-
KHSAA meeting: 6th & 7th Region realignment; possibly whole state
This could get real interesting, especially in the areas where population always seems to be growing. As stated, Louisville has two new schools, the Lexington/Georgetown area isn't getting any smaller, and the NKY area could see more school entering other regions/coming back to the 9th.

I think if he was the answer this thread wouldn’t be 8 pages long. Fact is, he’s not.

Streaming Exclusively on Peacock
Peacock is good for the Dan Patrick Show if you like him. Other than that, any subscription with them is just a waste of money. Just a bunch of channels with old reruns and movies that are B level at best.

Open Job: Bishop Brossart
I'd say Kozerski is likely retired. He stated when he stepped down that he was having a medical procedure and that he had pondered doing so for a few years.

Speculating. But, I would assume one of the reasons there haven't been interviews is because it's not clear what teaching openings there will be. In a school that takes athletics seriously, that's not a concern. But in a school where athletics (specifically football) is an afterthought by the higher ups? Makes sense. Also. The other side of the coin, just because no one knows interviews have taken place doesn't mean they haven't. Discretion isn't impossible.

What's going on at Pulaski County?
My guess is coach has had enough and figured why not right here in front of everyone. This is either a huge mistake or very commendable, depending on how you see it. It also helps when a coach has been somewhere nearly 30 years. May be retirement eligible (if he already isn’t) and not worried about any repercussions.
