This could get real interesting, especially in the areas where population always seems to be growing. As stated, Louisville has two new schools, the Lexington/Georgetown area isn't getting any smaller, and the NKY area could see more school entering other regions/coming back to the 9th. 

This could be interesting.  Evangel Christian and Portland Christian have both moved, and Highlands Latin has been added since 2007 along with DuBois and Grace James.  Another interesting twist is presented by Francis Parker (formerly St. Francis), which is still located in downtown Louisville but plays its home games at its lower school/middle school campus in Oldham County (although its long range plan is to build a new gym downtown).  Hope they will use some common sense in coming up with a new alignment.

Something to remember I think - if a school moves to a new Region in a 16 Region sport, all of their sports teams are going to move too.

Teams used to play other sports in Regions outside of their basketball "Sweet 16" alignments. That ended at least a decade ago and the goal was continuity, even if it meant way fewer teams in some Regions in some sports - Girls Soccer being a notable example.

If done statewide, the 8th region could/should be home to a few “Louisville” schools.

Yep. The 8th has a three team and six team district.

 

With the 9th having 21 schools, and the 10th only having 16, I could see some movement there. 

With The addition of Cornerstone next year in Shelbyville to the 30th district the 8th will have 2 six team districts, one 3 team and one 4 team.  Doesn’t make a lot of sense.

seems like the fix there is fairly simple.

It is really strange the 8th region actually have 3-team district, 4-team district, 5-team district, and a 6-team district.

I know at one time Trimble was in with the Oldham County schools.

Who would you propose goes? 

One of the problems with the way things are currently done is that the better teams aren't evenly distributed by district.  I'm a 12th region fan and if you look at the top 3 teams based on the Massey Ratings for each district it looks like this:

45th:  51, 63, 121                     46th:  111, 139, 154                  47th:  43, 89, 98.       48th:  81, 143, 170

It's obviously more difficult to get to the regional tournament in the 45th and 47th.  Plus, the 45th has 6 teams compared to 4 in the 47th and 48th.  The 46th and 48th aren't even close.  The highest ranked team in the 46th would be the 4th highest ranked team in the 47th.

Of course, these rankings change from year to year.  Danville is down this year but with the improvement of DCA you have 4 teams in the 45th that are usually pretty decent in DCA, Danville, Boyle, and Lincoln.  

I'm not sure there's a better way to do it given the location of the schools.  If you look at a map it kind of makes sense but going from Lexington (Trinity Christian) to McCreary or Wayne is a pretty big territory to cover.  Lincoln is centrally located and could be moved to the 47th but I doubt if PC or Somerset would want that.
