Spencer County 2019 - 55-60 2025 - 55-60 2026 - 65-70 (9 Seniors) We will play in our Freshman/JV league. We do not take any players once school starts, unless they are new to the district.

Just so we have all the facts this was not a memo generated by the KHSAA, it was part of a recommendation from the NFHS Sports Medicine Counsel. I think our organization has a voice, sometimes we may have too many which is where things get muddied up!

Wonder if they are the same parents who took their kids to play in AAU games at the end of the season and got a few of them suspended for the first game of the district tourney.

I have tried to bite my tongue on this entire topic however the uneducated comments about player safety directed at our programs have crossed the line. I am proud of our player development model, safety is always the priority. We put kids who are in the developmental phase of football against others who are developing. It allows them to get reps against kids of like skill level. We have coaches who get along with each other and have like goals. I can only speak for our program none of the kids in the "developmental" game get reps on Friday. JV games on Monday are more competitive but very limited/if any participation from the "developmental kids". We will coach our program, our numbers are growing in our program and this model has helped tremendously. I take it personally to help grow the game of football. We have close to 50 kids participating in spring practice currently, with a large group of incoming freshman coming in next year. I will also add in our case, most times in these games kids are only playing one side of the ball. Again developing kids! So I am proud of what we are doing!

Anyone not able to attend should definitely tune in. This will be a first class broadcast promoting the 8th region.

Woodford is extremely athletic, really locks you down on defense and dominates the glass. Of course Spencer played without their two all region guards Smith & Seawright who have been lost for the year. Woodford will be a tough out at the Roy.

Oh my another open up the offense will lead to a district title.

The 20% threshold just took the place of varsity competition. Where participating in one game would deem you ineligible, now that 20% is the declaration line of varsity participation. If a kid plays in 2 football games and leaves team A and goes to team B it must go through the state but they would be granted eligibility through the waiver process. This will be an exception as is bona fide change of address if I understood it correctly.

If you want to have a great defense you better have a head coach that understands they better play good defense, and builds in the time for defense and the fundamentals and technique. If the head coach treats it important the kids will also. You may not be great every year but you can tell the defenses that spend time on it and those that don't.

Really solid hire, knows how to run a tradition rich program! Great human being, understands the game, just a really good hire. Very consistent in everything he does and his teams perform that way! He will be great for Lexington Catholic!

Tough night for Bears. Never seen anything like that but oh well have to flush and move on. Great environment! They will be ready for the region.

Never coached my son prior to high school always thought it was best for him to be able to learn from other coaches. I enjoyed every moment coaching him, when he came in as a freshman my first goal was to make sure that he fit in the locker room. Every kid in the locker room had to know he earned what he got. I have always said it is better if the kid is good enough everyone can see it or bad enough that you can see it as a parent. When they are in the middle talent wise it just makes it tough. Never had any interest in him being a QB although he was 2-0 as a QB during the COVID season by necessity that was not something I wanted to deal with. Plus we had a stud play QB for us. He played RB/WR/CB return guy for us. He also was highly successful at basketball winning a region and also won a region in track. My main advice to any coach is worry about how he is fitting in the locker room put that first and the football will take care of itself. I think he called me Dad on the field but I can honestly say his high school experience was great and he will have lifetime friends from his time.

Yes the 22-23 team lost in the 1st round as a one seed to the #12 ranked team in the state Collins by a couple of points. What a horrible, humiliating loss (Sarcasm). As far as the Conley era, I have no idea what your infatuation is with pointing out what you see as failures of that group. Great kids who had a lot of success in high school, and have went on to be highly successful after high school. It seems somewhat personal! The 30th district is tough, and every year there is a team or two from that district that doesn't get to the region.

There was an issue a few years back over draw times. It got kind of contentious so the decision was made to make a consistent draw time. Whichever tourney plays first will draw at 10AM on Saturday morning and the one that goes second will draw at 2PM on Sunday. These times are firm and everyone knows them. There are also years to take into account a team that might have their championship game on a Saturday night. These coaches know the teams in their region pretty well, they have played most. Don't think it is really that big of a deal. We shall see should be a great tournament.

Walton has a really good team. Quite honestly North Oldham is the class of the region. Can they be beaten yes they can but if you talk to most of the coaches I think they all agree they are the definite team to beat. After that OC, WV, Spencer, Woodford (if healthy) and SO can be ranked 2-6 in basically any order and not many could complain.

North is the clear top team in the 8th. I still think Spencer is in the top 3, I think Coach Burns really challenged them with the early schedule. Definitely showed them some areas to improve, and I am sure they will be in the conversation at tourney time.

Spencer County trailed 64-47 going into the 4th. Furious comeback in the 4th and OT to pull out a huge win in Buckner!

I didn't see the interview but having competed against them last week I don't think the disrespect or overlooked card is in play here. The coaches all over this state know the talent that PT has and once you get to this point anything can happen.

One horse town! That is huge for building a program! To go along with administrative and parental support!

I personally haven't seen any kids not wearing mouth guards at practices or games. I can also attest knee pads and covering the knees has been a point of emphasis each week. Several kids are wearing the mouth guards that are not attached to their helmets.
