Jeffersontown High School Announces Lonnie Oldham as New Head Football Coach

Jeffersontown, KY - Jeffersontown High School is proud to announce the hiring of Lonnie Oldham as the new Head Football Coach of the Chargers. Coach Oldham will be officially introduced during the Jeffersontown vs. Male Boys Basketball Game on Friday night, January 9.

Coach Oldham brings more than 33 years of coaching experience and returns to Jefferson County Public Schools after 23 seasons. This will be the sixth head coaching stop of his career.

Coach Oldham was named the Courier Journal Kentucky Class 4-A Coach of the Year (2003) at Seneca High School, leading the program to its first-ever No. 1 state ranking with a 34-33 victory over Trinity High School. Most recently, he earned Kentucky Class 2A District 5 Coach of the Year honors at Carroll County.

"I am excited and honored to become the next head football coach at Jeffersontown High School," said Oldham. "I look forward to building strong relationships with our student-athletes, coaches, families, and the community as we establish a culture of discipline, accountability, and pride."

"I look forward to working with and building the Jeffersontown Chargers Football Program into a district, regional, and state championship contender with Coach Oldham," stated Jimmy Durham, Director of Athletics & Activities.

Oldham has been head coach at the likes of Carroll County (2022-2023), Jeffersonville, IN (2011-2014), Oldham County (2005-2007), Western Hills, OH (2004), and Seneca (1999-2003).

So if you beat Trinity in a regular season game 23 years ago you get to put that on your resume for life? LOL

Remember each & every one of those games well.  We had 7 turnovers vs Ballard in the playoffs which was our demise.

I think you meant Garry Williams, but we had more dudes than that.  Jerome Blincoe, Jermaine Haskins, Robbie McAtee & Greg Embers were some others that could flat out play.

Seneca was also represented on the All BluegrassPreps.com Football team that year:

OL - Gary Williams, Seneca, Senior

COACH OF THE YEAR: Lonnie Oldham, Seneca

Andy Clark could throw a baseball as well if I am not mistaken.

Yep, sure could.  Went to Franklin College for baseball then played a little semi-pro ball.  2003-04 was a great year for Seneca athletics.  Football won 10 games, a district title & was ranked #1 in the final regular season poll.  Basketball won 25 games & the LIT.  Wrestling won the Region 4 title.  Baseball won 20+ games & had some good wins over quality programs like St X that year.
