This may answer a lot of questions on what's happening with the Mason County Boys basketball. 1) Earlier in the season, bickering between some players and the Reed brothers led to some players walking out of practice. 2) After the Rowan County game, Blake approached the coaches in the locker room saying they were holding him back from scoring 40 points a game. He also stated he didn't care if the team loses as long as he gets his points. Blake was loud and told Coach Kirk you know I can do it too. Coach Kirk responded by saying yes I know that, but I want to win. Blake responded by saying I don't care if we win, I want my points. 3) As of the East Jessamine game, Cayden told the coaches he was not going to start if Blake wasn't starting. Coach Kirk still put Cayden in the starting lineup. Cayden told the assistant coach he was going to shoot the ball every time he touched it, and wasn't going to play any defense. When the game started. Coach Kirk called a time out early in the first quarter. Cayden was standing away from the huddle during the timeout. Coach Kirk told him to come to the huddle so he could see what they were going to do after the timeout. Cayden turned his head and did not come to the huddle. Coach Kirk then told Blake to sub in for Cayden. Blake refused to go into the game. Evidently the Reed parents wasn't aware of this. Adam asked the assistant coach at halftime why Blake and Cayden wasn't playing. The Reed parents left at that time. Adam returned in the 4th quarter and set behind the bench behind Blake and Cayden. During a timeout, Adam walked to the front of the bench and put his hands on Coach Kirk's chair. Coach Kirk requested the active AD to have him removed from the gym. Adam responded by saying your gonna have to call 911 if you want me removed. After the game, the mother came back and starting cussing and hitting Adam in the parking lot. (Can't make this stuff up!) For anyone thinking Coach Kirk is out to get ANY player is about as laughable as some of the facebook post. He had high expectations for this team, and still does, to win District and Region and was excited when Blake and Cayden was ruled eligible. Every Coach has ways to handle certain situations. I guarantee no player(s) would get by with the things that has happened this season without some sort of punishment. I commend Coach Kirk for sticking to his core values as a Coach. Sometimes, you just got to cut the cord and move on. That coaching staff tried to get buy-in without prevail. I hate to see Blake's senior season go down the drain like this, but sometimes you got to man up and take accountability for your own actions. There are many other things that has happened throughout the season that is not mentioned in this post. This is not gossip, or he said she said.
