I pretty sure that not being married isn't the issue. It's being divorced. I know divorce is prohibited in the Catholic Church, and prevents you from being able to partake in communion. I think the current Pope has taken a lighter stance, but that has not been officially adopted as a whole.

I know as a Diocese employee you have have to follow and embody the tenets of the Catholic faith. But do they really fire every diocese employee that gets divorced or otherwise violates one of the standard doctrines? I guess I get it, but if that's the case I wonder how they have enough teachers/coaches.

I won my big money league for the second time in the last 3 years. Lots of luck is what got me there. Won the semi finals when McCraffrey got stopped, and won the championship yesterday because two opposing players got hurt and couldn't finish the game.

I know it's unpopular among traditionalists, but I don't think the bowls need saving. Any post season game that doesn't figure in the National Championship just isn't that important. Not many people (including players and coaches)are all that interested in seeing two 7-5 teams battle it out on Dec 30th. I'd be in favor of expanding to 16 teams. That's 15 extra games that all mean something. Anything beyond that just isn't important.

There are guys out there who like a challenge. But I don't think many established guys will be looking at this job unless things change significantly with this next alignment. I think likely it will be guys looking at the first head coaching job, or somebody who really wants to live in this area who will be applying.

I'm pretty sure 4A is in the rear view mirror for Scott. With all the building expansion that's been going on the last few years and Dixie and SK at capacity, Kenton County schools will redistrict at some point, which means Scott will only get more students. They tried redistricting a few years ago and backed off, but it will be happening at some point in time whether people like it or not. The problem is there are still many who won't send their kids to Scott to play football based on how bad Scott was for most of it's existence, even with some of their recent success. So unless KCSD backs off of open enrollment, football is going to be tough sledding in the 5A district they are in, and even making the playoffs is going to be difficult in an average year.

Based on past history, I would agree that teaching openings will be part of the puzzle. Also, based on past history, I wouldn't think this job would get filled until after Christmas. They've got experienced assistants on staff who have been running weights/off season workouts for many years. So the kids will be putting in good work/time this off season. I also don't believe for one second that Casey Fisk is unmotivated and just going through the motions. I know for a fact that he takes his job seriously. I also know that information as to who's applied, who's interviewed etc, will be kept very private and very little information, if any will be out there regarding the process. But I'm confident there is work being done.

I somehow made it through to the Championship in my bigger money league. A big day from Nacua and 17 points from my kicker allowed me to hold on. I was up 29 points going into last nights game, but my opponent had McCaffrey. After he scored 19 points in the first half I thought I was in trouble. Then late in the 4th quarter I was up 4 but the 49ers had the ball on the 2. The Ravens stopped him just short of the goal line, and then Darnold took a sack and all was good.

Campbell or Cov Cath? I think Campbell typically has around 70-80 in their middle school program and along with Twenhofel are usually the two biggest. I'm not sure about Cov Cath...I haven't seen their 8th grade team since they moved to the GCL, but I would think right around 100. Which is why this number seems so big for St Henry...it would almost mean every eligible boy is playing football.

165 middle schoolers? That would make them the biggest middle school program in NKY. That seems like a REALLY big number.

I left Goff on the bench sitting next to Tee Higgins in one league, which will keep me from advancing. A big day from James Cook and Chris Godwin has me moving on in my big money league.

I have Jacobs, and picked up White in one of my leagues but didn't play him. Not a huge mistake, but 17 points still would have been a nice start to the playoffs.

Yep. That Eagles team, while it underperformed, was a really fun team. They used to hold training camp where I went to college and we spent many days in the summer watching camp and hanging out with the players at night in the bars. I met and hung out with Golic, Seth Joyner, Ben Smith and the dude who was the most fun, Jim Mcmahon. While Reggie and Randall didn't partake in the night life, we did see them all around campus, and Reggie was a humble, kind dude. And absolute Giant.

I finished as the two seed in both my leagues. I was on fire weeks 3-8 but have been struggling, and quite frankly getting lucky. I'm in the middle of the pack in overall points in both leagues, but have had the least and 2nd least amount of points scored against me, which doesn't bode well in the playoffs. Running back has been a big issue in both leagues with Josh Jacobs and Kenny Walker being really inconsistent. I've also struggled with QB as I have Fields and Goff in one league and always seem to start the wrong guy. I was able to get Dak off waivers about 6 weeks ago and he has really carried me in my big money league.

Maybe not down, but certainly inconsistent. Teams seem to be way up or way down from week to week. And I'm not one to rip officials, but officiating has been wildly inconsistent too. Some crews calling every little , and some letting obvious penalties go uncalled. The games have been hard to watch with poor flow, and I think officiating is why. I don't have any official stats, but I feel like that have been more "big" game changing calls made (or not made) than in the past.

This like all of these big contracts are about winning now and worrying about the last few years of the deal when it comes. And with continued rising salaries, these deals don't look so bad just a few years later. Just look at Bryce Harper. Now only the 7th highest paid player in baseball and falling.

They won three games last year, 11 the previous year, and 5 the year before that. An 0-4 start shouldn't be a surprise based on recent history.

One of the problems non-starters have on college rosters is that coaches are always looking for somebody better than you. There is no such thing (for the most part) of waiting your turn at the college level. You have to prove that you can play pretty quickly or they will move on from you. And with the portal it's easier than ever for a school to move on from their marginal talent. The portal is pushing the marginal/bubble guys out much quicker now. The elite HS guys will always get a chance. The portal is also making the PWO route even tougher.

Unless they can change geography or suddenly make the teams in Beechwood's district more competitive, those kinks will be around for a while.

I don't think finding a job for the next Football coach is going to be the problem. I thinking finding a guy who wants to coach at Pendleton is going to be the issue.

They won't fire him, and nor should they.

It was tabled for the last 2 months, but that talk will be coming back soon. Some will have to recover from falling off their high horse before that gets in full swing again. If it does start, it needs to stop. The guy got them back to being a state championship contender and they lost to a really good team tonight. Shouldn't be any shame or issues with that. If they fire him tomorrow, he'll have a job coaching somewhere in a few weeks.

As an Eagles fan, this has been a rough stretch. They haven't played particularly well, but then again, based on the competition they've faced, it's not surprising they haven't blown the doors off anyone. Still, they've turned the ball over way too much, and their pass and 3rd down defense hasn't been great (although it was pretty good last night). They also aren't protecting Hurts that well and his ability to stay healthy is a concern. I still see them losing 2-3 more games and probably at least one of those will be to a team they shouldn't lose to. They will certainly be well tested come playoff time.
