Not surprised at this one. As I said earlier, every matchup in the first round could be an upset.

I think this job will have a very large net cast for candidates, well beyond NKY. The retirement issue is a big problem for Sullivan, so I'd say he is a longshot at best for this job. Aside from Sullivan, I don't know that there's a big enough name in NKY for this job.

That sounds like a lot of money (and if someone stole $50k from me it would certainly hurt), but it's really not all that much over 3 years...a couple to a few hundred dollars per week. Not at all a life changing amount of money, and definitely not worth the risk of getting caught. But it's just enough money to bring some serious charges, repercussions and total destruction to your reputation. And definitely do enough damage to make your husband leave a very high profile, public position because of the heat it that come with the crime. I've also been involved in investigating enough internal theft cases that the total amount stated publicly, is probably less (and in a lot of cases, MUCH less) than the actual amount stolen.

That's the rub with how the winner is determined in this game. It ultimately comes down to personal feelings of the jury. Almost every jury has at least a couple people that base their votes on stuff other than gameplay, which is why your social game is way more important than your physical game. And most contestants know this....look how many contestants have tried to hide their background/profession in fear of people labeling them as "not needing" the money. Kenzie's background, combined with the fact that she did just enough in the game physically and behind the scenes, along with a super strong social game gave her the game, even though she wasn't the strongest player. I'm fine with Kenzie winning even though I was kind of pulling for Charlie. Super glad Ben and Liz didn't win as they were two of the more annoying players in recent history (which this season had a bunch of annoying, weak players)

It probably didn't go missing all at once. Probably occurred over a period of time, a few hundred here and there. That's how people are able to get away with these crimes for a while. Plus Chamber's primary sources of income are membership dues. There is no exchange of goods or even services. And probably only a couple of paid employees, with her being the only one actively involved in finances, so very few if any checks and balances. Divert a dues check here and there, and boom over a period of time, it adds up. And it's pretty easy to hide money from your spouse. You can open an account online, have statements sent to your email address, all without your spouse having a clue. This is likely a crime of opportunity that started small, and slowly grew bigger as she continued to get away with it.

This should be a really good tournament. Any of the number 1's could get upset in round 1.

I have to give Kenzie credit. She didn't do a whole lot, but her social game was very good. I'm a little surprised Maria didn't vote for Charlie, who really did play the best overall game and I think was most deserving. This season for me though was that there were a lot of weak players, many of which had no self awareness, and were just out of touch with what was going on around them.

That's a pretty strong lineup. The Jets still cashing in on the Aaron Rogers effect with a bunch of prime time games. Weeks 3 and 7 are the only games that don't excite me all that much.

Yep. It comes down to the fact that there are meaningful games in the NFL every single week. Outside of a few teams at the end of the regular season that have already clinched their spot, there are several big games to watch. Stars players don't sit (unless they are hurt), and so many games have playoff impact. No other sport has the urgency during the regular season that the NFL has, so each game is truly an event. The other sports leagues with a high number of games, load management for star players and the shear length of the season just doesn't allow the regular season to have the same impact and watchability that the NFL has.

Maria might have just given Charlie the game. Maria should have been all over Q to play his idol which would have put them in control of the vote and given Maria another big checkmark on her resume. She's pretty much torpedoed her chance of winning in these last two episodes. I also don't understand why everyone wanted Q gone....I mean I get that he was annoying. But you couldn't ask for a better person to take to the finals with you, and what's another couple days of putting up with him. Plus with Liz and Ben being pretty weak players, taking one of them with Q to the finals sounds like a great path to winning. Kenzie is really the only other possibly threat to win because she is really likeable and hasn't really honked anyone off, although she really hasn't done much either.

This is kind of out of nowhere. Is there more to this story? If you had asked me who would be the next coach in NKY to leave, Barth wouldn't have been anywhere near the top of my list.

I think Hunter just over thought the situation. And in his case, he was always a threat to win a challenge so even if he didn't find another idol, he had a good chance of being safe even if he didn't find another idol right away. Venus was just overconfident, which was really her style the whole game. She consistently thought she was in a better position than she actually was. And after the previous tribals, to have an idol and not play it was inexcusable.

I don't think this is a bad job. Timing isn't so great and that will limit the applicants, but I suspect that won't be that big of a deal with Wiggins in the building assuming he is interested in the job.

Just when I thought Venus was starting to hit her stride, she falls for the Q smokescreen. Remember folks, don't tell anyone about your idols.

Down 8 more lbs since my last post here on April 5th, and almost 25lbs down since Jan 1. Only about 12 pounds away from my college playing weight. Still just watching portions and cutting down my sugar intake and processed foods. The better news is my blood pressure is lower than it's ever been, and my blood sugar levels are in much better place and getting better. Hoping to start back to some light to moderate lifting in the next week or so. Not looking to get back to the muscle bound days. Hopefully this all translates to good results when I re-visit my kidney doctor at the end of June.

They are taking the full speed, running halfway across the field collisions out of the mix by placing almost all the players only 10 yards apart. So that will help reduce concussions/injuries. I think it's a good compromise of putting action back into the game that had been removed, while keeping things on the safer side. I also will miss the surprise onside kick, but as you mentioned, it so rarely happens, I don't think it's that big of a deal.

Q's falling on his sword act is getting old.

I think teams won't look backwards for the third helmet design. I would expect to see something new and exciting rather than just another throwback.

If it's about allowing small schools to be competitive, then 6 classes is better than 4. 4 classes make the size difference between the largest and smallest schools greater at the top and bottom classes. That makes it much tougher for the smallest schools in what would be 1A and 4A to compete. The size of the state vs the number of classes is not the only factor. You also have to look at the discrepancy of sizes between schools when determining the number of classes.

In my multiple decades of coaching I’ve encountered very few kids like you are describing. Sure there have been a few. Sure some things have changed in society, but I think you’re overestimating when you say “many”.

Kind of like how every previous generation feels about the new generation. Bad behavior has always existed and is not unique to any one generation, not to mention there are way more good kids than bad kids. To lump a whole generation under the bad umbrella is at best hyperbole. Besides, if all these kids are truly disrespectful etc, then the previous generation has nothing to complain about since they were the ones that raised them to be that way.

Here's the thing. The tough guy, abusive stuff might fly and even produce results in the short term. Long term successful programs in this day and age, don't have coaches that are regularly crossing the line, especially with the transfer rules. Coaches no longer can hold players captive, and as a result, they won't put up with abusive behavior. It only worked back in the day because athletes had few options. Think about it, how long would you be willing to put up with an abusive boss? Adults shouldn't and won't put up with it, and neither should athletes.

What's gotten old is people defending this behavior by saying athletes are too "soft", not tough enough, and/or spoiled, as well as the belief that this is what it takes to be a "champion".
