The other thing to remember and keep in mind, is what if your Defense DOESN'T do the job? Everytime you score, your opponent gets the ball the back with a chance to score. Getting the game tied gives you more options at the end, should your opponent score again. Your opponent would certainly kick if they scored a TD after you tie the game, which gives you the choice to kick it for the tie or go for two to win if you match their TD. Whatever you choose, if you're successful, you're either winning the game, or at worst playing overtime. By going for one you have no choice..you have to go for two just to tie. There is no option that gives you a chance to win on your last possession.

I understand your thought process, I would agree going for one makes more sense at least early in the game. Late in the game (and I would consider this late as you might only get 2 more possessions at that stage of the game), I think going for two is the right play. By going for two in this situation your giving yourself a better chance win the game. If you get the two, and your defense does the job, you're no worse than a tie game and in overtime even if you don't score again. If you miss the two, and the defense does their job, you can still win with a field goal. If you've made the two, even if you miss the field goal, you STILL have a shot in overtime. If you instead kick it, you're still down one. Then you HAVE to get at least a field goal or the game is over. There's no other option. Plus there's roughly a 10% chance you'll miss the extra point anyway and be in no better shape than going for two and failing. Going for two late in the game gives you a greater margin of error and thus a better chance of winning. Another way to look at it to look at the possible outcomes while considering you only have one or two possessions: 1. Go for Two and making it is a positive outcome vs going for one and making it. 2. Go for two and missing is the same as going for one and missing. 3. Go for two and making it is a positive outcome vs going for one and missing. 4. Going for one and making it is negative outcome vs going for two and making it. 5. Going for one and making it is an overall negative outcome (you're still behind) vs going for two and missing. Basically, there is no situation/scenario where going for 1 is the better option at a point in the game where you might only get another possession or two. Being tied late in the game is a way better situation to be in than being down a point, because a tie at the end means you still have overtime and a chance to win. Being down one, means you've lost and the game is over. The earlier in the game you are, the more the math tilts towards kicking as you've got more possible possessions ahead of you.

This scenario is a little different...the lot Frisch's is on is much bigger, and in a prime corner location which along with a much more expensive real estate market means a much higher price tag. Obviously I don't know the numbers that would be involved, but I think the break even point for such a transaction would be much higher. Because of the location, I also wouldn't be surprised if the current owners (whomever that may be) would be willing or even looking to sell. Plus if drive through/expanding capacity concerns were an issue and tearing down and starting over were an option/necessity, there have been other parcels of land very close by that have come open/been available in the last several years that probably could have been had. The other consideration is whether CFA currently owns the land they are on, or if they rent, what the current lease terms are. Clearly, I'm just spitballing here and have no clue if my thoughts are even anywhere close to being correct.

I think tomorrow and Monday I'll be dipping into the Bourbon Collection. It sucks that this is my last week of working Wed-Saturday so I'm not getting any free time off. If this could have waited one week I might have had only a 1 or two day work week.

Way too small. Sometimes you can't even get into the drive through from 17. I can't tell you how many times since it's been open that I've just driven by because it's so hard to get into at times. I'm just not sure it would make sense financially for them to make that move and start all over again. So much of their business is drive through....I'm not sure a larger restaurant would drive enough business to warrant the cost. I'm not sure that another restaurant makes sense. There is a lot of competition in that area. You've got several fast food joints (Wendy's, Arby's, BK, White Castle, McD's, Subway, Guthries, DQ and soon to be Sonic in addition to Chik Fil A). There's Chipotle and Hot Heads. There's casual dining with Bob Evans, Roadhouse, Harmon's and BW's. There's a Mexican, Chinese and two pizza places. And you've got a nicer place with Walt's up the road. I just don't know what else the area needs that would be better than what's already there. Maybe a good solid, greasy spoon type Diner?

My first winter here was 1998-99, and I can only remember a couple big storms, none of which dropped a foot. I remember a fairly big now in 2003 or 2004 because I ended up getting a hotel room near work instead of coming home. Besides that we've had a few that have dropped a half foot or so, but nothing major in at least the last decade. The biggest storm I ever saw was in 1996 when I was still in Philly, and we had a storm drop over 30 inches of snow, the most ever from a single storm in that area.

While I think the portal has evened things up some, I disagree with your statement about guys sitting and waiting a couple of years and then replace the older guys. Waiting your turn generally doesn't exist at the college level as coaches are always in win now mode and are constantly trying to get better at every position. If you're not currently playing, you can pretty much count on your coach is out there looking for somebody better than you. What the portal has done is make it even easier for coaches to find somebody that's better than you. Even if you were a 4 or 5 star guy coming into college.

My guess is toss up. I'm expecting anywhere from 0-36 inches of snow with some ice and rain mixed in. I've got plenty of food and lots of bourbon and plan on dipping into my supply whether it snows or now. Sun-Tues is my weekend anyway, so I'm not really concerned one way or the other.

As an Eagles fan, I'd love to see him break the record. However, it's simply not worth the risk. They are a different team without Barkley. With him, there are 4 guys that you have to account for....5 if Goedert is able to come back, and Barkley makes their passing game more effective. Also, the Eagles had their bye week in week 5, and being able to get some guys a rest at this point in the season is more important than the rushing record.

Completely expect this to be another big nothing burger for Northern KY. It just simply doesn't snow here anymore. 60-70 miles north of us get big snowstorms, south of us get snow storms, but NKY gets about as much snow as Florida.

It's because these games have meaning and a purpose. Sure the big bowl games had tradition and were meaningful because of the old conference affiliations and it was a chance to see matchups you normally didn't see. But I'll take games that mean something over tradition any day of the week. And while we are going to see some blowouts, bigger playoffs will end most of the talk about teams not getting a chance to play for a national title. I have to say that I enjoyed seeing Indiana and SMU get beat up and now not being forced to hear how they deserved a chance.

Wynn makes a lot of sense for both him and SK, although Barth would be interesting. Many probably don't remember (or are even aware), but Barth was the HC at Woodland Middle School and taught in Kenton County before taking over at Walton, so he has some experience working for KCSD.

Now that there is a real playoff system, the extra bowl games should just go away. Back when there were fewer bowl games, they were great recruiting tools, but as we've moved further an further away from that old system, very few fans cared about the majority of the bowls, and even when the playoffs became 4 teams the buzzards started circling and the whole bowl system went on life support. Sponsors don't care, fans don't care, why should the players, especially the players who have a chance to play at the next level.

It is really good football, with very good facilities, and a really good school. And starting next year, it will be D1.

UD (as us native Delawareans call the school) is transitioning to D1 next year and will be a member of Conference USA. Traditionally the Blue Hens have been a very strong 1AA/FCS school. They play legit football there and have sent more than a few guys to the NFL. Delaware is a great school, and I wouldn't classify this as "going down" a level.

Public schools are not immune from this issue.

More often than many think. Especially at schools that have booster programs with some big spenders/deep pockets, which I'm sure St X probably has a few. Like it or not, money paves the way for influence.

I'm usually not a fan of who these committees elect. But I'm in agreement here with Parker as well as Dick Allen. Both were deserving and probably should have been in awhile ago, especially with some of the recent players elected. I was a little too young to remember Dick Allen, but often heard my Dad and Uncles talk about how great he was. And while I hated the Pirates, Parker was just fun to watch, and as intimidating a player as I've ever seen. A few years after I moved to this area, I happened to see Dave Parker in a Circuit City store. I never realized just how big he was. He must have noticed I was staring at him, and actually took a few minutes to say hello and shake my hand and talked to me for a minute or two.

I got to witness a launch in person last Friday while staying near the Space Center the night before leaving on my cruise. Very neat experience. My hotel was about 5 miles away and had an observation balcony. What was cool was seeing the launch, and not hearing until about 2 minutes after it disappeared from sight.

Yep...growing up and living half my life in that area, good subs and cheese steaks are things I really miss, and one of the first things I get when I visit. About the closest I've found out here was a place called West Shore Pizza in Mason, but sadly they closed a while ago. They actually used Amoroso's rolls which all the places back home use.

Which really doesn't take a whole lot of effort or skill. Jersey Mike's doesn't come close to a real sub shop that you'd find in the Mid-Atlantic states (Eastern PA, South Jersey, Delaware).

I don't know that anything was scripted beyond both guys agreeing not to hurt each other. That footage of Tyson training that was released made everyone believe he might have something left in the tank for one more fight. The reality though, and what everyone forgot (myself included) was that Tyson was completely shot as a fighter 20 years ago, ending his career with two really bad losses to guys most of us haven't heard of. As a guy in his mid 50's, I should have known that Tyson had no chance against a guy with even marginal boxing skills that was half his age. This ended up being the big, last payday Tyson never got at the end of his career. If anything this tells you the current state of boxing, that it took something like this to make people actually care about boxing again.

Quite a few, reliable kickers are struggling this year. Jake Elliot (Philadelphia) and Justin Tucker had bad weeks this week as well. Not sure what's going on, but it's too soon to run Mcpherson out of town. With the Bengals likely out of the playoff hunt, you have to let him find his way out of his slump.
