nWo Posted January 4 Posted January 4 This map is my first call for possible accumulations for this upcoming winter storm. The models have been showing a shift to the south of the track of this storm. Different variables can and will alter the accumulations. The more freezing rain/sleet that falls in an area will lessen the snow accumulations. Also if the track keeps moving more to the south. The snow total could go up, and the freezing rain/sleet totals will go down. 1
nWo Posted January 4 Author Posted January 4 I neglected to mention that I think most of the snow accumulation will come on Monday.
sportsfan41 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Any changes nWo? Still expecting 6-10 inches of snow for far NKY/Cincinnati area?

nWo Posted January 4 Author Posted January 4 Here is my second call for accumulations. The storm will happen, and accumulations will change depending on the exact track and how much freezing rain and ice an area gets. The further north you go, the more snow. The foot+ is mainly across around and north of the Ohio River. The NWS-Louisville office said to get done today what you need to get done. Travel is not advised for tomorrow. Especially Sunday afternoon and evening. I hated giving such a wide range for the Cincinnati/NKY area, but that is what the models are showing. Sections near the Indiana/Ohio border could receive around 18".
nWo Posted January 4 Author Posted January 4 Northern Kentucky close to the river, could get 11+ inches

I know we had a "blizzard" in 2008 I believe but I still don't think the snow totals were double digits for that event. As long as we don't lose power, I'm in the let it snow let it snow camp. 4

I wish we would only get snow. But in my area, we are looking at almost 3/4 inch of ice and 6" of snow. 1
nWo Posted January 4 Author Posted January 4 @sportsfan41 Cincinnati Feb 4, 1998, 11.8" Jan 6-7 1996 12.8" Jan 26, 1978, blizzard 6.9" fell on top of 14 inches of existing snow
BBN_34 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 What time can we expect all of this to arrive. I’m in the Lexington area. 1

My first winter here was 1998-99, and I can only remember a couple big storms, none of which dropped a foot. I remember a fairly big now in 2003 or 2004 because I ended up getting a hotel room near work instead of coming home. Besides that we've had a few that have dropped a half foot or so, but nothing major in at least the last decade. The biggest storm I ever saw was in 1996 when I was still in Philly, and we had a storm drop over 30 inches of snow, the most ever from a single storm in that area.
