  1. Is Cothran the same guy that had the job once and left? Also the same one who quit in the middle of the year at Southwestern as the girls head coach? Should of learned your lesson I would think. If so that would worry me in the direction I was wanting to go in. A young coach with energy, who is ready to get involved with every level of basketball is what they need. I know of one assistant that has applied and would be great for them, he does not have any Somerset ties and that would be a good thing at this point. Been a part of regional championships something Somerset has not accomplished in a while.
  2. 4 veterans and 1 assistant are interviewing. This job is getting some quality people in the interview process. One in particular from Louisville that I was shocked about, and hearing is the favorite.
  3. The June is the one I am looking for the dates on. Have any idea Sportsfan?
  4. They are taking aplications through Friday. Really quick deadline, makes me feel like they have already offered it to someone that has accepted it. Not wasting anytime hiring I dont think.
  5. I think that KBA is for any one that can field a team, all star teams etc, I thought there was one for high school teams only in June?
  6. Anyone know the dates for the 15U AAU State Tournament this year, and also the Derek Smith Shootout dates. Any help would be appreciated.
  7. Have heard the name Scott Chalk thrown around and the JV coach from South Oldham for this position
  8. Really think that they try to keep 2 PG's, 6 Bigs with some of them being interchangeable, and 4 SG, that would make the most sense, as far as PG's go hard to beat Paige and Townsend, already going to have 2 Trinity kids on the team looks like with Foster and Dieudenne. Bigs Jay Johnson, Lemon, Clemons, and McKay are all studs, the other 2 bigs spots should be interesting. As far as SG's go Ivey, Manning, Barnette good choices I would think
  9. CONGRATS to Coach Steiner and his staff! Great season and well deserved award. Oldham only returned 2 starters off their regional team from the year before by the way. Gruber and Kopp never played in the regional tourney last season. Lost 3 starters! Alot of good seasons in the 8th!
  10. #32 is their center, big strong kid, about 6'3 and they sub a kid about 6'6 but has a small frame. They are super quick and start 4 guards.
  11. Dont have any idea, but I know that Oldham is giving up 45ppg for the year that is #1 in the state. Is it points given up?
  12. Where are the Simon fans that annointed them all season?? Watched them play again last night and wonder how they won games all year. Their coaches do a good job, but always find a way to choke it away. Please next season dont think you are a top 25 team unless you really are, dont think that you have the best coach on the planet until you actually do. All year we have listened to that crap and 0-2 vs. Gallatin, really now. I told you earlier this week "old coach jones by 3, my bad it was 1. No way Simon would beat Collins as bad as they gave up rebounds last night so you get a little earlier vacation.
  13. Has Simon ever beaten Gallatin in the last 5 trys? Ill take old Jon Jones by 3
  14. The LIT and Cantrill do type in both teams into the computer and it factors their strength of schedule, they dont have to see them play. Players can be hurt for example, the computer has no idea who is hurt. Oldham lost by 20 in those 2 games, but were down less than 8 going into 4th quarter, and Simon has beaten Cov Cath and Clark County in the past week.
  15. Dont think anyone in the 8th region is in top 10 but also dont think some of those other teams are either. Like I said the state and regional tournaments will speak for themselves.
  16. You have to see everyone play before you can rank them, one of the reasons why the ratings actually work, they do take both teams into consideration, not peoples heart and opinion.
  17. No way that Oldham and Simon are not ranked, both state ratings have them both ranked. Odlham is #10 in Herald, #16 in LIT, Simon is in top 20 in both as well. Once again these rankings are based on who the team is, who the coach is etc. They mean nothing, what does matter is winning a region, you have about 3 teams in your top 15 who will do that
  18. You are correct Mack! That is the schedule, good luck to all next week.
  19. Tyler Wesly probably best player in the 8th has 3 bigs ahead of him?? Dont understand that one!
  20. Really dont like Eastern being still ranked with 11 losses. They lost to Central Hardin last week who has 8 wins, I know they play a tough schedule but really 13-11 is #15 still like this one better than the other 2.
  21. No love for the 8th region? Really surprised considering they have ranked teams in both papers, as almost always it is dominated by Lexington and Louisville, not alot of respect for anyone else. Maybe that is why we had 2 teams in the state final that were not from any of those regions. So happy that only 2 can make it to the state tournament, some are way over hyped! Rankings can not let personal feelings get involved because you like the coach, or the school, etc. Its about winning and performing. I know the 6,7,11 are strong but 12 of the top 17? Top 6 are right on after that its just ridiculous.
  22. Great win for the CATS! I thought South would handle them but once again Jon has a way of winning games. Morgan and Davis can play! Others know their role, the 8th will be interesting as usual.
  23. South by 20, watached Oldham against Gallatin, Jon Jones is one of the best aroung but sometimes its about the JOE's and this will be an example
